Children's Choice

"My son has been going here for years. His previous visit was for a physical before going to middle school in the summer. I took my son for a sick visit yesterday and Dr. Samples roughly took off my sons shirt to listen to his breathing. He then asked my son, "Does your Mom still beat you?" Then followed up with "Did she use to?" I thought he was joking which is in itself not something to joke about. Then the doctor left the room and I heard him say, "Yeah I asked in a way but he didn't understand." I then realized he was not just using dark humor. I, myself, am a mandated reporter from years of a Social Work education and I know that all Virginia Medical staff are also mandated reporters. My son was already so sick, but then was confused and scared of why the doctor was asking those things. I told him I did not know, but I am want an answer ASAP. Was he just being inappropriate or was there a legitimate concern and if so why wasn't it reported? I have no fear of CPS as we have nothing to hide, but that visit stressed out my already sick kid and me. I am trying to switch doctors but nowhere in the area is taking new patients. This practice needs to be investigated. Do not take your children here. After seeing him roughly rip off my son's shirt I expect that the practice owner, Dr. Samples, is not appropriate to practice with children."

"Dr.Samples was very rude and unprofessional. When he came in the room he took my phone off the table and proceeded to turn it off so my son couldn't watch Mrs.Rachel then told me I'm slowing my son's learning progress and made it seem like I was a bad parent for letting him watch her. Then when my husband called to speak to him, he was really disrespectful and told to find another doctor and hung up on him!"

"We been driving for almost an hour each way for last 15 years. we moved towards Giles county several years ago but we kept same Doc for obvious reasons, they are the best. Our both boys being treated over the years and only I know how difficult/ worrisome it can be to drive for an hour just to get there with sick child. But, whenever we call front office staff they are very helpful and friendly. Dr. Jackie is wonderful, most kind and caring Dr. we couldn’t asked for better one. She is very polite and knowledgeable. After Dr. Richard retired, we miss him every time we visit them but it still feels like a home. Those familiar faces takes away our worries and stress right away. It feels like home rather than clinic. I will certainly recommend them."

"the nurses are beyond wonderful! but the doctors on the other hand are not. i’m not one to leave a bad review, but Jackie Morgan i believe, the older lady. HORRIBLE. my son went for his 2 month checkup which of course he had to get shots. but she tried to force the covid vaccine, she told me that she had some ready and available. as of right now the vaccines ARE NOT approved for children under 12. so why in the world would she even offer for a 2 month old?! then she got an attitude and walked out once i said no. i then had to ask her another question and she then proceeded to tell me to make sure he was wearing a mask at all times. he’s 2 MONTHS OLD. absolutely unprofessional."
