VA State Inspection

"This new inspection guy is very rude & does not want to work. He closes at 4:15 PM but the sign says 5 PM. Upon asking why, he said the last car he takes is at 4:30. Fair enough, but I had been waiting there since 4:15. When I mentioned that, he nonchalantly said, "I do not care!" I complained to the guy inside the store, he also said nothing, just stood there. Oh well :-( PS: The older guy was nice, this new one is not."

"This place must be hit or miss. I see several people mention the inspections taking a long time or the technician being rude but just today I went and had a great experience. I arrived at 4 PM, an hour before closing. There was one car in the garage and one ahead of me. When the car ahead of me went in I started a stopwatch. Just under 10 mins later I was asked to pull forward. I then reset the timer for my car and again about 10 mins later it was done. The inspector was very nice (he just asked what I needed and told me to leave the keys in the car and wait in the front) and the check out process inside was simple. I was good to go in under half an hour. Maybe it will take longer if you or the people ahead of you need an emissions test as well. If the line is long, come back another time. If the inspector is rude, come back another time. Good luck!"

"Inspection took over 30 minutes, and changed $20 labor to change a license plate lightbulb that took 3 minutes to replace. I get that techs have to make money, but it doesn't feel like they're looking out for the customer much."
