Reviews of Martin Frederick E III DDS
"This dentist literally saved the day, and saved my teeth. Last minute dental emergency, and new to town, they welcomed me same day, and after initial inspection, my teeth were determined to need more than just a filling repair. Up front about cost and treatment plan needed, they were able to turn a potentially terrible situation into a hopeful one. Shoddy work by another dentist out of state would have ended up with a far worse outcome than I would have ever known. He is attentive to detail, would rather do things the right way, looking at the big picture, the first time, than try to piece things together, over and over. I am grateful for him and his staff!"
"I love this place, even thou I hate needles to my gum area, the dental assistant always work with to keep me calm, talk me thru the steps. Dr. Martin always talk me thru what he has to do before performing the procedure, even thou I didn’t understand what he was saying I was grateful that he took the time to explain it to me. I would definitely recommend them!"
"He practices IPR dentistry. This means he basically whittles your teeth so they slowly migrate together to form a uniform smile. He will explain this to you in way-too-much detail which makes it seem like he takes great pride in his work, but when he rolls his chair to the next person over and repeats the same thing verbatim, it comes across more like a marketing ploy than someone who actually cares about your personal needs. For some people, IPR dentistry is great. For me? My teeth have never hurt so bad in my entire life... When I told him that after seeing him a few times that now I have hot/cold sensitivity and horrible pressure sensitivity where I can't use my molars anymore (from lack of material—which I tried to explain to him) his solution was to whittle on them MORE, then prescribe me Prevident and send me on my way. I thought maybe the sensitivity would go away after a few weeks, but it's been almost two months now and my teeth still have a LOT of sensitivity (both temperature and pressure) that was never there before. I read another lady's 1-Star review from Yelp and she had the same experience. The poor lady mentioned it was 3 years ago and she still has pain. I guess I have to suffer with this for the next year until my dental plan re-ups and then I can go to a dentist who doesn't follow IPR like a religion and realizes people need a significant amount of material between the nerves in their teeth and the outside world."
"Had an amazing experience here. Everyone explains exactly what they are looking for, how and why they are cleaning, and how to best maintain the ideal dental hygiene between visits. Very personable and communicative - I will recommend this practice to anyone in the Norfolk area!"
"Gone here for years (since I was a kid who needed her first tooth pulled). Have never had better care dental wise. Dr Martin has always been super kind and welcoming and has always made sure to explain in detail what any issues have been and his plan of action. All of the staff are amazing as well! Super friendly and it always feels like visiting family. Have never had any insurance issues with them, and they’re always willing to lend a helping hand. I’m definitely a customer for life!"
