"Today My mother who suffers from cancer needs tooth extractions. She recently got 2/4 teeth extracted in December which wasn't a bad experience, but this experience was BY FAR the worst I have seen in my experience in the medical field. First VCU Health notified my mother at 3:45 PM the day before her surgery for insurance discrepancies, which was resolved. We were then greater by the receptionist in room 239 of the oral surgery who informed us that the insurance discrepancies still existed, but we presented the paperwork she then provided poor information on how Tri-care insurance just covers “health not dental” which she reiterated 3x, she then goes to her supervisor after admitting her unkeen knowledge of insurance and then comes back to her desk and says tri-care doesn't cover extractions and then tries to humiliate my mother by saying she has an outstanding balance and needs to pay. We then called tri-care and the phone rep informed the receptionist that my mother was covered and was AWAITING PAPERWORK FROM THEIR OFFICE. It'll take 2-3 days for the paperwork to be processed, so the appointment was rescheduled a month away. My mother has broken teeth and waited months for this appointment. This is a prime example of untrained employees within the workplace on insurance practices, and then spewing nothing but wrong information. I feel since most patients don't have medical coverage the demeanor of the admin staff feels they can handle patients any way they want. Unacceptable."
"The care that we received previously was top notch. But it took my referring provider calling to get an appointment because NO ONE ever calls you back when you leave a message no matter how many you leave. My daughter now needs to be seen again because she needs sedation and AGAIN no one is calling me back after repeated messages being left. This is ridiculous."
"The Dental School does a very good job working with my granddaughter. She was very fearful of getting her mouth work on. They take the time to find out what she is afraid of and explain to her what exactly they will be doing and why. Her teeth had to be restored. She says now she has a reason to brush."
