Reviews of Dentists on Grove Avenue
"Do not go to this dental practice. You will waste time and potentially a lot of money. I waited over an hour for my first visit for a cleaning and X-rays, and waited over three hours before I was seen by the dentist. The tech who did the cleaning had no idea what she was doing, did not even know how the tooth numbering system works and kept getting confused. The cleaning was inadequate and the X-rays were more uncomfortable than any I’ve had before. I know people need to learn but she had not had anywhere close to enough training to be working on actual people and she was not adequately supervised. I was left sitting in the chair with no one checking in for more than an hour after the “cleaning.” Dentist told me I needed three crowns and left. Office person comes in with the estimate. The price was discounted, I liked that they make the crowns there so everything can be done in one visit, and they seemed sincerely sorry about the wait, so I made the appointment. My mistake! After again waiting for over an hour with no end in sight, not even an apology or explanation, I knew there was no way they could finish this procedure before my next commitment. I thought about rescheduling, but I had a bad feeling and checked Yelp and saw all the people who had been mistreated by this practice. Their experiences sounded so exactly like mine that I realized making this appointment without a second opinion was a mistake. I had already paid in full upon arrival and had to talk to three people to get a refund, all of whom apologized for the wait, but when I explained I no longer wanted to be seen by this practice they did process what appeared to be a refund to my card. I’ll be checking to make sure it goes through. I seriously distrust this practice."
"Worst interview experience ever. My interview for the dental assistant position was scheduled for today at 12 PM. I wasn't called back until around 12:50 PM and I still had to wait almost 15 minutes after that for the doctor conducting the interview to come in. When the doctor came in she greeted me and proceeded to ask me what position I had applied for which I responded that I had applied for the dental assistant position. She then asked if I had any dental assistant experience and I began discussing my skills and why I thought I would be a good fit. She was distracted and told me she was multitasking and filling a prescription. She then asked questions which led to us discussing my current job. She asked about my pay and what I do and found out I worked from home. She then mentioned that she would love to work from home and that the pay for the dental assistant position was less than my pay at my current job. I asked if the pay was negotiable and she responded by saying it wasn’t without any experience. She said later on down the line there could be opportunities for more money once experience is acquired. She proceeded to say things like, “Your job now sounds good.” “You should ask your current job for more money if that’s the problem.” I informed her money wasn’t the issue and wasn’t the reason I was seeking new employment. I had already explained that I had always been interested in becoming a dental assistant, but was never given the opportunity. The overall experience was unprofessional and I could feel that she didn’t think I was a good fit. She even told me “I have to go” when one of the other doctors called for her, ending the interview. She then asked for my name and wrote it down on a random piece of paper sitting on the desk and told me they would let me know if I was selected and to have a good day and walked out the room. It was a very unpleasant experience, she didn’t ask any normal interview questions or conduct the interview properly."
"I never write reviews. Yes, I was there for almost 3 hours for a simple cleaning, but sometimes things happen. Yes, the dental assistant wasn't very skilled or careful, but people need to learn, and they do that by gaining experience. The reason I am writing this is because they recommended serious dental work that I DID NOT NEED. They recommended a crown, and I was a little suspicious, so I went to another dentist, and they confirmed that it was unnecessary. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a second opinion, but I know that others aren't always able to do the same. What bothers me the most about this place is that they are preying on the community and especially upon those who don't have the luxury of seeing multiple dentists. They are not providing a necessary service to the area, they are just doing whatever they can to make a quick buck from your insurance company and from you."
"Easily the worst, most unprofessional dental office I’ve been to. The first time I visited for a regular cleaning, they took me back 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment. They promptly took my X-rays, then I waited 15 minutes for the tech doing the cleaning to start. After the cleaning, I waited over 20 minutes for the dentist to come in. They told me that they were unusually busy that day. I had two cavities, so I scheduled an appointment for fillings. Bad idea. I waited 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. They numbed me, then left me waiting in the chair for OVER 40 MINUTES. Nobody came to tell me that the dentist would see me soon. Finally, the a tech came in and numbed me again, as it had worn off. Waited 10 more minutes for the dentist to come do the fillings, which to my knowledge were done fine. After this appointment, I asked the front desk to send me my X-rays, as I was obviously never going to step foot in that building again. They said they would. They didn’t. Then I called, they said they’d send me the X-rays, they didn’t. Then I emailed twice, both times they said they’d send them, they didn’t. Then I had my new dentist office request them, and they had to call multiple times, and inform them that they were violating Virginia law, in order for them to finally send me the X-rays that I needed for a dental procedure. Sorry for such a long review. Please never step foot in this place (I recommend Monument Dental if you’re looking for a place in Richmond)."
"Bewildered by the poor reviews. I have had cleanings here and recently replaced a crown, which clearly showed wear on x-ray. I was able to schedule this appt within 2 weeks. I waited about 20 min to be shown to a treatment room, and walked out with a same day crown from Dr Klein 3 hours later. I have not had a new crown in about 6 years and was expecting a follow up fitting, after getting the mold created but this office uses modern technology that saves time and is a more accurate fit. I highly recommend seeing Dr Klein, and they offer both scheduled routine services as well as emergency procedures you might need."
