"First time. Really enjoyed. Clean and tastefully decorated. Service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Thank you to all the servers... you made our visit pleasurable. A special shout out to Carlton, the GM. You were a wine glass full of knowledge and a delight to chat with. We are already planning our next dinner! UPDATE: We went a 2nd time for Restaurant Week. Again, we enjoyed all. No issues, service excellent, food was good, atmosphere was good."

"Amaro Italian Bistro! Intimate feel. Warmly professional from the moment we were greeted through our departure. Freshly made delicious food, perfectly proportioned. Our bruscetta had garden fresh tomatos. This was the best fettuccini alfredo I have eaten since 2005 in Epcot's Alfredo's. My husband loved his chicken parmesan. Our Amaretto chocolate silk pie was potently rich and creamy-- perfect to share. "High class without the price." Seating allowed space. Relaxing jazz music was so much in the background that we could chat without hearing others. Nice to not see a tv. thanks to our hostess, our server (Michelle), the parmesan wheel host, the chef and the general manager (Clayton). Amaro quickly skyrocketed to one of our favorite restaurants tonight."

"This is a great addition to Newport News. This was our first visit here and we will definitely be back to try other dishes. Both of our meals were delicious, and the wait staff were all very attentive and professional. I recommend reserving your table at least a couple of days in advance, as well as dressing in semi-formal attire."

"Extremely nice staff, very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu just wish there were more options with chicken and in general for entree wise; Menu is majority wine and cocktails. The mussels were very very lacking for the price we paid for them but other than that the tomato clam chowder made up for that and the grouper entree was pretty good as well i just feel it could’ve used more flavor in my opinion. Thank you Cissy (waitress) for the excellent service and recommendations !"
