"Hello! It was my first time to Jakes Place! I have been wanting to eat here for ages as it is always closed on Sundays and packed on Saturdays. We ordered two pulled chicken sandwiches , two brisket sandwiches, and the tater keg appetizer! The Tater Keg is filled with pepper jack & jalapeños, it is a delicious amount of spice and cheese! The sauce it came with was a labelled tomato whiskey jam, it was a little too watery for what we expected and was quite sweet! The Brisket Sandwich was filling and the flavor and balance between fat and brisket was handled well! The Coleslaw was good! The Mac n Cheese was swimming in butter and some of the noodles were over cooked. The Chicken Sandwich was really good but it could be cut up more. The french fries were amazing! They only serve Pepsi products, but they are redeemed as they serve Luzianne Tea! Customer service was prompt and friendly! Otherwise what really stood out to me was the atmosphere the building and serving area was quite small and didn’t seem completely clean or maintained. There was also these ugly faces on the wall of someone named “Katz”. Since the building is so small, it might be best to remove the wall art and hire someone to do a mural."
"The food was good. the only items I didn't like were onion ring, honey butter for hush puppies. Wish they had printed out menus, but overall good meal."
"We went there on the recommendation of two friends. The staff was nice, but we waited close to 35-40 mins for our takeout. The catfish was very good, but unfortunately, it ended there. My ribs had a smokey flavor, but without any seasoning. The hush puppies were not edible as they were way overcooked. And the sweet potato was burnt. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but I won't be back."
"The food is great. Everything has been good , but really love the pork belly burnt ends and catfish bites. Absolutely delicious. Very friendly atmosphere and staff. Prices are reasonable. Just wish it was a little bigger , but then again that takes away from the places personality."
"Stopped in to get a sampling of their food because I am going to have them cater my birthday party. We ordered the q sampler getting the shredded chicken and sliced brisket. It was absolutely the best brisket I've ever had. Flavor was perfect, the meat was tender and it wasn't dried out at all. We also tasted the baked beans and coleslaw. Both of them were excellent. Of course you get a couple of hush puppies too. There are perfect, crunchy on the outside tender in the middle. Great flavor. It's a cute place kind of out of the way on 54, but the wait staff were very friendly and helpful and even got to talk to Jake. He also let us sample the collared greens which were really good. The prices were very reasonable also. They have some really good looking desserts but there wasn't any room."
