"My wife and I moved to Powhatan a few years ago, and like most other transplants, we had to try all the local cuisine. We stopped into Wildwood Bar-B-Que shortly after moving in to try the ribs and the pulled pork sandwich. The staff was great, but we left with the impression that the food was just ok. The ribs were hard to cut and really stuck to the bone. It may have been an off day, but we weren’t planning to return. Fast forward to the fall of 2023, a friend mentioned there was a new owner at Wildwood and felt the food was much better. So, desperate as always for new food experiences in Powhatan, my wife and I returned and placed the same orders as our first visit. It was a complete 180°. The ribs were falling apart, and the house barbeque sauce was fantastic. At the staff's suggestion, my wife got her pulled pork sandwich “sauced and slawed” and she couldn’t put it down (for multiple reasons). Since then, we’ve been back a few times, and our only complaint is the lines keep getting longer. When I made this joke to the nice lady at the counter, she pointed out that they now accept orders online. 10/10 will be back."
"This used to be our go to place when we wanted takeout, but unfortunately the quality of the chicken tenders has deteriorated to the point that it’s a waste of good money. Not only the quality but the portions have suffered. I received two child sized tenders and half of another(?) that looked and tasted like they had been reheated several times. So overcooked we couldn’t chew some portions."
"The staff are super friendly and the facility was nice. I ordered their brisket-que with two sides. The wait wasn't bad and the portions were ok. The brisket was tender and thinly sliced, but it tasted more like pork than beef to me. It wasn't bad at all, but the seasoning surprised me and no smoke flavor. The house bbq sauce was great. The sides were disappointing. The green beans tasted canned and weren't seasoned and the potato salad looked fantastic, but wasn't seasoned as either. The price was reasonable, but if I go back I would try something other than the brisket and skip the sides."
"Not a fan. No taste. Said seasoned collards greens but they forgot the seasoning. Ribs tasted like they were microwaved. Too tough to cut with a knife. Typically you don’t need a knife they just fall off the bone. Baked beans tasted out of a can and pulled pork was dry. Sorry guys but this was not close to BBQ."
