"My husband and I love this shop, and the biggest downside is it's 45 minutes from where we live. But the location, tucked back in the woods of Toano, adds so much to the feeling of respite from busyness. Their food is incredibly flavorful, high quality and intentionally served. The prices match the level of food, and portions are reasonable; just don't come expecting to be full like you would at Cracker Barrel. The coffee is delicious but the biggest draw for us in the atmosphere - feels like the perfect, sleepy coffee shop next to your B&B on vacation."

"Such a gem! Atmosphere was cozy, staff was all so friendly and the baked goods we had were excellent. We came here because my 7 year old had been watching videos of latte art and wanted to go to a coffee shop where they did this. Not only did he get a cocoa with a design on top but they showed him how they do it ❤️ we will definitely be frequent visitors and have already placed an order for the cake we tried there for my husband's birthday."

"I will now compare every other coffee shop to this one. This is as good as it gets. The calm ambience, creative cuisine, and friendly smiles set this place apart. But it’s more than that- there is a unique feeling about Hohl. Like it has its own culture and personality. I don’t think you could replicate it exactly how it is because there’s something intangible that is really special about it. The waffles are the best I’ve ever had. Actually everything our family ordered was just a level above. Hohl is worth driving out of your way for. Next time we are down near Williamsburg or Richmond, we will definitely stop by."

"Had a ladies lunch. The menu had breakfast and lunch items. Not alot of protein items on the menu, but you can add from "side" menu. (Eggs, shrimp). Had the avocado toast with poached eggs. Gorgeous presentation, just the right serving size. Another item was the Kerfuffle waffle. THIS was awesome! Another well portioned meal. Saw the Grits and shrooms and it looked nice as well. Had the cappuccino and it was a good flavor, not too strong, with a lively leaf pattern. The pastry counter was full of lovely looking treats, but we passed. Nice place for a special treat."

"Fantastic place with exceptional coffee and service, and delicious, fresh food. I normally have flavor in my latte to balance the bitterness of the coffee, but the coffee here is so smooth that it requires none. The menu is inventive and delicious, with choices so excellent that choosing one presents quite a challenge. Its an authentic Aussie-style cafe—synonymous with the best. I cannot wait to go back to try more!"
