"Stop here on your I-77 road trip, get a burger and tots. It’s a tiny diner that mostly caters to Appalachian trail hikers, but it’s a nice change of pace from truck stop McDonalds. The owner is delightful to talk to."

"I rated this place 5 stars in every way but you have to know what you’re getting into. My yuppie family was passing through on our way to Charleston with hungry children, so I did a frantic “Open Now” restaurant search and found this place. The Appalachian Trail literally runs beside this restaurant, so “outpost” is a great name. If I had been hiking 600 miles I couldn’t imagine a better place to stop and load on the hot food calories. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the fried food was as good as it gets. The atmosphere is picnic tables, a great view, and hikers that haven’t had a bath in months. The company is “random” as the AT inspires all sorts of people to tackle it. My family had an amazing time socializing with “Struggle Bus” and his friends and a great lunch. I know all hikers stopping here will be happy and I highly recommend it to them!"
