Reviews of Pep Boys
"I only gave this business one Star because I had to in order to leave a review. I went to my local Pep Boys shop today after I called earlier in the week and told the manager what problems I was having, and he said very kindly that he would be happy to take a look at it and they could fix it for me. No problem so I go in today and he is not there. But the assistant manager Steve was there. From the beginning of our interaction, I knew that this is a person who wants a job, but does not want to work. I told him I had an appointment to have it repaired today and he said they would have to run diagnostics and find the problem which could take up to five hours and not until then would they contact Warranty Company to get authorization to have the repair fixed. I called my Warranty Company while I was there in front of him and did verify that it is something that’s covered under my warranty however, the assistant manager Steve kept trying to tell me I needed to come back another day when I could drop it off and leave it have for them do diagnostics that was gonna cost $250 and then have to pay an additional deductible to my Warranty Company. I asked him why am I having to do this if I’m telling you that another mechanic has diagnosed the problem and he said “ that’s not how we do things around here” and again was just trying to get out of doing any could have cared less. Hi also asked him about putting a plug in one of my tires. I ran over a small piece of metal and it put a hole in my tire and from the get-go he said I’m not sure if we can do it. It depends on the size but likely not. I ended up, turning around and walking away from this person who ironically enough is in management and wants a job but does not want to do a job. How he is an assistant manager is beyond me I will never ever return to that store again. Not only was he extremely rude and lazy I got to hear him have a conversation with a customer about some woman who is fed up with her husband and is going to file for divorce because it was only the three of us in the lobby and I’m standing there, waiting for him to acknowledge my presence while he’s talking to a customer about some woman’s divorce Not a professional environment at all."
"My appointment was at 8am and was scheduled two days in advance. At 2pm that afternoon they still hadn't even looked at it. I sacrificed a whole day of work when I could have just brought it to them when they were ready. What's the point of booking an appointment if you can't even meet the obligation it requires? I thought these guys were professionals. However, I can't comment on the quality of their work. Still waiting for the conclusion unfortunately. Now whatever needs repaired will have to be scheduled for another day. So that's going to be two full days I've lost here! a complete loss. Once again I'm strictly reviewing my experience based exclusively on the scheduling and time management. Maybe they do good work, maybe they don't. I'd definitely ask them if they plan to begin work at the time your appointment because if your vehicle is required to make money at your job like mine is, it will save you a great deal of frustration and loss of income. Very unsatisfied. I hope they work on this....a lot! I would not recommend them. First and last time for me. Thanks for reading."
"Girlfriend took the car in for an issue with her brakes pulsing. They did their free brake inspection (service brakes only evidently), identified issues, and she gave them the go-ahead to fix it. After several hours (up to and slightly beyond their closing time) they fixed everything. Except the brakes were still pulsing. Prices were steep, so we were shocked that the issue that we described seemingly wasn’t addressed at all. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and not call it gouging, we pay a high price for them to fix it on the same day and for their knowledge to diagnose what us laypeople don’t understand. We go back the next morning and ask them how they couldn’t feel the brakes shake and pulse. Took him for a ride in the parking lot and he claims they never experienced it (although we can replicate the problem consistently). Their word against ours. Fine. Then he goes on to do a quick diagnostic with the computer (10 min.) and comes to us with the actual problem we were dealing with. $1200 and 5+ hours of our time later, now they tell us what’s still wrong with it. Ridiculous. When we asked why they didn’t just run the check to begin with during the free brake inspection, he said “Well we wouldn’t think to check that if the brakes were pulsing like you told us. Maybe if you said they were grinding we would have just gone straight to the ABS.” “What’s the difference between grinding and pulsing brakes???” “Well what’s the difference between black and white?” Seriously? We don’t have 40 years of being a mechanic under our belt. We explained the problem to the best of our ignorant ability and entrusted you all to do your due diligence and be thorough. Icing on the cake was when he calls us back after we leave because they had left their code reader plugged into the car. Embarrassing and unprofessional how poorly they went about the entire situation. If you like paying a ton for them to fix a bunch of problems other than what you take it in for, here’s the shop for you!"
"Joshua needs a new job. Called to confirm tires was there after driving 2 hours still had to wait 30 minutes. Asked numerous times about date code on tires was sold 2 new tires that are year 2021. Asked if anything could be done was told they was special ordered they was mine. If this is how pep boys let there representatives treat customers ill go elsewhere. There's no need in the attitude and un professionalism showed! Tried to order tires from him to begin with wanted me to drive there to pay wouldn't allow us to pay over phone. So I had no choice but to order through website. The tires was pickup and carry never been mounted hadn't even put them in car."
"By far the best experience I have had at any auto repair establishment in all my years. Professional, courteous and communicates well. Josh and the team provide first class service from start to finish. Highly recommend. Don’t hesitate to use this team."
