Reviews of Red Crab - Juicy Seafood
"If you want crab legs or any boiled seafood, this is the place. Want to be in a nightclub while dining?? This is the place. The music is loud, foul, and obnoxious. The wait staff are young and not trained well. The management is not visible. This place needs some work to make it appealing to a wider audience. I do like the crab legs and potatoes. The rest is just, meh"
"Food was decent, nothing exceptional. I ordered a PO boy, got 4 miniscule shrimp on bread. Sauce was ok. Definitely not worth the price you pay. I'll try again another time but in no hurry."
"Tweeks Road Trip Food Review: So in a business trip up to Charlotte, I was really needing some seafood.. and boy am I glad I chose this place. Having lived in South Texas for 20yrs.. I really miss good Cajun food, so when I saw this place had a Cajun boil.. I was there. TL;DR I don't give many 5 star reviews (hardly ever). But this rating was just for the food. I don't care much about service or atmosphere (unelss they're bad). This food is exactly what I was craving (Cajun Boil), and it was awesome. :) Food Details: The portion was pretty good. I first thought it was a little light (I can easily eat five clusters of snow crab). But all together, it was perfectly filling. Not too much.. not Cheap, but not over priced for a 1/2lb of snow crab (one cluster), 1/2lb of headless shrimp, and 1/2lb of smokes sausage (+1 corn cobette +3-4 small red potatoes). The MAGIC was the sauce. They have various "sauce flavors" (see menu).. but I chose "garlic butter", spicy level "Hot" (out of heal levels of mild, medium hot and extra hot). The "Hot" was not too hot. I don't like heat more than flavor.. and I could have done Extra Hot without an issue. So I ordered a side of "Cajun Spice"... which when they brought it out, I realized was just Cayenne pepper. I dipped my shrimp in the garlic butter, then into the pepper, and then inhaled a bit and just about choked (laughed at myself). I don't often like boiled shrimp.. it seems like a blank palette of flavor (unlike snow crab flavor).. but in this case.. the shrimp was the best food-stuff to smear around and sop up the incredible spicy garlic butter sauce. Wow this stuff was amazing. With traditional Cajun.. you get the boil (often boiled in saltwater with Zatteran's boil liquid spice).. with Cajun spiced sprinkled on top. However in this case.. they seem to boil and or steam the seafood protein and veggies in some seasoning.. and then toss it in 1-2 cups of this incredible spicy garlic butter elixir. Man this stuff is good. Even with the plastic bib I still managed to get a spot of it on my shirt. Toward the bottom of the serving tray, I encountered more and more chunks of yummy garlic, and I wanted to dink the stuff! I thought, "Boy.. this would make an awesome soup!".. Then I thought.. "Hmmmm..." and proceeded to chop up the last of the smoked sausage and smashing up the last little potato.. mixing it all up in the spicy garlic butter sauce and asked for a spoon to eat it all up with.. Wow.. sooooo good! I highly recommend this place.. Just be prepared to pay $30-40 per person.. and oh, don't wear a nice shirt. ;)"
"I went in for a classic po boy. I got both the shrimp and oyster to try them with my friend. We were overall underwhelmed. It was bland with the only flavor coming from the oyster. You could have fed me a cloud with mass and it would have had more flavor than my sandwiches. Had to flavor it myself when I got home. People were pretty friendly and the atmosphere was cool. But I wouldn't go there for the food. If you notice the seasoning in the box that was what I added. The only flavor they tried was this flavorless mayo"
"I have been by this place several times which there were never a lot of cars so I figured it must not be good. I was so wrong! I spoke with the manager and she was very nice. They have been there for about a year and usually are busy Thursday-Sunday. First, DJ was very professional, knowledgeable and personable! She definitely needs a raise because she provided excellent service from beginning to end so thank you for making my first experience AMAZING!!! The food was delicious! We got the Thursday meal then ordered fried shrimp with sweet potato waffle fries. Now, I got a half pound of steamed shrimp which are covered up in the photo but there were quite a few. Everything was seasoned to perfection, steaming hot and prices were reasonable for the portion size. Overall, It’s a very spacious, well designed and good energy spot. They even have a separate sink area to wash your hands if you don’t need to use the restroom. I would definitely go back as well as try other locations."
