Reviews of Grit Coffee, Nau Hall UVA
"Great service, cute shop."
"The person serving me was rude, I asked a question and he answered with a lot of attitude (it was a simple yes or no). The drink also wasn't that good and pretty pricy. The barista that made the actual drink seemed sweet though."
"Friendly staff and good quality drinks! I only ever get the coffee drinks, not matcha or tea, but they have always been satisfactory. The baristas know what they are doing and make sure every drink is made with care. Their espresso tastes good in lattes and cappuccinos, but I would not recommend it on its own. They offer fresh pastries early in the day, but don't expect any will be left after noon. My only complaint is that everything is quite expensive (even more than Starbucks), but if you are a UVA student you can use flex dollars. Also, even though there is very little seating, the ambiance is nice and they play good music."
"Loved It!"
"I am hesitant to give a low rating, because the coffee and tea, while very expensive, are quite solid. The pastries, while also overpriced, are also good. They seem understaffed or unprepared; the line gets very long and things take a while to get made, moreso than when the location was a Starbucks. The major issue is how often things run out or are unavailable: certain drinks on the menu will be unavailable at unpredictable times; they run out of hot food and pastries (especially hot food) very early in the day; and the prepared foods also run low and it's never certain what they'll have. It should also be noted that they are the same sandwiches, fruit cups, etc, that you can get at Crossroads or other places around the university. The physical space is basically unchanged from when it was a Starbucks."
