Reviews of Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken
"Takes a little while, but is worth the wait. I've visited this establishment twice now, both times with a similar experience. Both times there were minimal people there, but took at least 20 minutes to get the food. The food comes out hot and fresh, and a large amount for the price. We opted for the tenders and fries, and loaded mac. Both were fantastic. The chicken is juicy, the fries were crispy, and both were loaded with flavor. The sauce is amazing too. The Mac was a good choice also. Medium is a great starter if you like heat. The angry hot is uncomfortably hot though, pretty much unbearable. So steer clear of that one. The strawberry fresher had too strong of a jasmine tea. I personally love jasmine tea and it overpowered the hint of strawberry in the drink. The gentleman behind the counter was accommodating and made something else for us."
"This was a great chicken sandwich. The flavor was spot on, the slaw was really good and whatever the sauce is added great flavor too. My sandwich was very low heat (at my request). I figure the next one I'll turn it up a notch. The guys I was eating lunch with went with medium heat on the loaded fries and we're satisfied with the heat to flavor ratio. We'll be back.."
"Never again…. I’m not sure where to get started. As I enter the establishment I was met with a god awful aroma that can be described as a sweaty pig pen. As I’m walking to make my order I am met with a man who is very unsanitary. His belly was hanging out of his shirt, and I witnessed him pick his nose. He was very unpleasurable to interact with. I asked about the spice levels and although he explained it to me it was in a cocky/arrogant way. When I finally got my food after waiting for at least 15 minutes while being the only one in there, the man slammed it onto the counter whilst screaming my order number. As we were eating he was deviously staring at us from the cash register The food: The chicken sandwich smelled like a musty middle school locker room after a 8th grade basketball game. It was god awful. The chicken itself tasted like water downed old bay. The pickles were straight cucumbers. The coleslaw was just alright. The fries on the other hand were seasoned well and were probably the best thing there. The sauce was also delightful. Mac and cheese smelled like farts, but was still solid."
"First time trying Hangry Joes, it was very good, my boyfriend and I got the chicken sandwich in mild, the guy that took our order was very nice and explained the levels of heat very well, mild was more like what most people would call a medium heat, the fries were crispy and a kind of sweeter flavor which my boyfriend didn’t like but I thought were very good! Overall it was a great place with very yummy food!"
"Did an online order today. Food was over all good. We ordered a good amount of wings and some fried okra. I will say the “hot” is way hot and the “medium” is still really hot. My husband who loves hot wings was matched by the “hot”. Also they are really big, so much bigger than expected. A few things I did have a problem with was I had to place an online order and couldn’t call in. The only reason I had a problem with that was because it didn’t specify a time on how long it would take when you place an online order. It in fact was a problem, because even though I got a text saying they got my order I never received an approximate time or a text when they were done. When I got there my order was ready but I have a feeling it was sitting. So, knowing when to pick up would be nice. Another small issue I have is when I order the wings it said they came with pickles and coleslaw and we didn’t receive those. Though, I believe it was sitting nothing was soggy cause they did a great job of packaging it. Even the okra was packaged where is wouldn’t get soggy."
