Reviews of Pho Cyclo Vietnamese Restaurant
"I live in an area with not a lot of good options for Vietnamese food, so when I visit the Northern VA area I tend to bring home a few quarts of Pho Ga. On a recent trip to Annandale, I stopped at Pho Cyclo, as it came highly recommended. The place is quaint and was busy on a weekday around 2PM. Ordering was simple, as the lady working the counter spoke perfect English and was very helpful, especially since I needed to ensure my broth was packed tightly for the long ride home and that the hot and cold items were packed separately, as I wouldn’t be eating this Pho for several hours. I got enough for 5 of us and after we heated the broth and then added all the beautiful, fresh, and crisp veggies and the tender chicken – it was time to eat! The broth was really good, but I didn’t notice as much star anise nor cinnamon flavors in it. We still absolutely enjoyed it! I prefer a clear, non-oily broth and that was exactly what this was. Prices are very fair and the restaurant was nicely decorated and spotless too! Highly recommend stopping in for carry-out or to dine in when in the area!"
"I ordered pickup and delivery so I didn't review for atmosphere. This pho tastes even better than my old favorite spot. I think it has the best broth flavor. And I love that they serve rare slices of beef. I had a delivery issue with Doordash and they remade my order and delivered it. Wow! Wasn't expecting that! Great food and great service!"
"Second time here. Might be the last as today's experience made me realize that I should drive the extra for our old go-to pho on Broad Street. It is an okay place. Service is quick. Today one of the staff came over and as we explored more of the menu than the pho page, we had questions. "Yes, this is spicy and good. Big serving" sold me on a shrimp curry. We also got a pho. The food came quickly and that was the last we heard from the staff until the bill was presented. Back to the meal. I think the pho is served too cool. Again. But it is tasty enough. My spicy curry has just a flavor of too much tomato and is sweet. Remember it is supposed to be spicy? Not at all. I added siracha to try to give it flavor but it was not very helpful. If I wanted siracha shrimp, I would order it. When a server returned with the check we advised him of the lack of spice and flavor. "You should have told us and we would have brought you the spice tray" he said. "We were very busy with take-out orders" he continued. I only saw one driver the whole time we were there and a foursome who came for bubble tea so that was a fib on his part. No apology or removing it from our bill or "let me get you some dessert to make up for it." Elephant Jumps is next door. I think I'll jump! PS: Both times we have been there someone is mopping a floor and you can smell the bleach at the dining tables. I am not appreciative of this."
"The pho was excellent overall. The broth was amazing. The noodles were noodles. The eye of round beef was dry and overcooked (it was supposed to come rare). The brisket was standard, good. The side veggies were all fresh. Didn’t try any other dishes."
"Nice little restaurant, tucked away in a corner of a strip mall. Pho and vermicelli dishes are very good, served with proper condiments with attention to the spices and taste for each dish. Service was excellent. The few beers on tap were more than enough to accompany the dishes that they created in the kitchen."
