Reviews of Noah's Ark Thrift Store
"Store has lost at least 1/2 of the space of what it used to be. Used to be decent, and I really liked the African American cashier. Today, I was met with rudeness and one word answers. The cashier was unhappy and should not be working in customer service."
"I like to shop at thrift stores all over Virginia. I have been to many, so I feel like I’m in a pretty good position to rate a thrift store fairly as compared to what else is out there. This one is clean and nice and they have good stuff. Some of their prices are decent for things like books or drinking glasses. But overall, their pricing is exorbitant compared to any other thrift store I’ve ever been to. As an example, their small appliances. Granted, they mark on them that they are “tested,” and that’s more than some thrift stores will do. But come on, they want $25 for an old bread maker that although it looks like it’s in decent shape, it’s not new. I literally bought the exact model at Walmart 15 years ago on clearance for about $25. And that’s what they’re charging here. All the other small appliances were marked up high like that too. You are so much better off going to Walmart. Or Amazon. Or any other thrift store. Furniture was another surprise pricewise. They had a bedroom set with a dresser and chest of drawers that were decent enough to use, but clearly beat up. The finish had marks and nicks all over. And it wasn’t like these were awesome vintage antiques that despite the dings are valuable. And yet, they’ve got them priced for like $274 not just for one, but for each. So, for close to $600 you could buy a meh used dresser and chest of drawers. You could easily find all kinds of better furniture for probably 25% of this price on Amazon marketplace. Basically, I would say they are trying to price things at the high end of what anybody might ask for in an antique store. And men’s jackets for $39.99? I’m sorry. Now, maybe they know something I don’t know. Maybe they’re able to sell the stuff at these prices and make a profit that supports their mission as a nonprofit. If so, more power to them. I’m leaving this review for people who want to thrifting, this one is not gonna be one that you’re going to be impressed with in terms of their pricing. The exception here might be books, but the selection was limited and primarily religious."
"I've been here a few times since moving to Middleburg in January, the employees have always been helpful, always interesting items to look at and when I was in last week was told that they are expanding! That explains the plastic sheet being used for a wall... Looking forward to the enlarged space!"
"I went in yesterday to donate items and the lady told me that they where not taking Christmas items. I said OK but there are other things in there and she would not look. So, I said I would take it somewhere else and she said you should do that. I was very disappointed because I have donated a lot to this store but I will not go there again. I hope the people that donate there do not get the treatment I got yesterday. I was there about 3:30pm."
