Reviews of Junior League Thrift Shop
"This is my favorite of the local thrift stores. Prices are on the higher end for it being a thrift store, but I’ve found that’s common across the board in this area. In regards to quality, I always find solid quality clothing and home decor. I appreciate not needing to intricately inspect each item to make sure it’s good"
"Solid Collection but I prefer the pricing over at the Bryn Mawr Thrift Store. The mainline thrift stores are for the affluent people who live in the area. A low income person looking to buy goods at an affordable cost (that the store got for free) will not find much value in shopping here."
"Prices are a bit more reasonable compared to the other “thrift” store down the road. However, the prices are still on the high end for being called a thrift store. They have a few dressing rooms. Much of the store is women’s clothing. They have a special section for high-end clothing. There’s a small men’s section as well as items for children."
"This place is laughable. If you are looking to spend $30 for a pair of used Amazon basics branded pants that go for $20 new... this is the spot. The selection is awful and everything is overpriced. The employees think they are better than everyone else, and they have like 10 different women working that kinda just follow you around and judge you the entire time. This is just another Ardmore scam... overpriced and overrated. Go to Goodwill instead."
"Your store is extremely well organized and your staff is friendly. You get 2 gold stars for that, and they are important stars. That being said, there is something fundamentally wrong with the way you price your items. I can tell you have staff that does their best effort researching the items you stock and pricing them at-or-just-below eBay or other non-thrift store competitors. If you were running a retail antique store or a vintage boutique shop you would be doing a great job... but your goods are donated, your initial cost is -zero- and your goal should be to move items off the shelves as quickly as possible to make room for more -zero- cost items. Pricing items at or just below market value is actually COSTING you money because resellers like myself can’t purchase your goods and sell them to our customers. I know what you’re thinking: “why should we lower our prices so you can make money, that’s ridiculous” The answer is simple: when you make your prices attractive to resellers, you make more money faster and have more room to stock more items to in-turn... make more money. When you price crystal glassware, ceramic plates, or vintage housewares to the prices you see on eBay, you’re forgetting that the customer base for these items is small and isolated; they’re never coming to your store. Oftentimes the items need actual authentication, research, repair or cleaning and your prices make this impossible to do. Your initial cost is zero, but leaving things sitting on your shelf collecting dust costs you exponentially more with each day that passes."
