"We dined here a few weeks back with friends and were underwhelmed. The menu is heavy on expensive ingredients (think crab, lobster, cognac), perhaps to justify the high prices. However, the cooking doesn’t live up to the them. Service was friendly but scarce. We would have added at least $60 to our check if someone had just stopped by to ask if our table wanted another drink. Speaking of which, the craft cocktail trend of the last 30 years has not touched L’Allegria. For a fully-licensed restaurant, this seems like a missed opportunity. All in all, L’Allegria feels like something of a throwback to the white tablecloth Italian of yore. Go if you want that old school feeling, but you can do much better for the money elsewhere."
"Discovered yet another romantic spot —a wondrous Italian place in Madison, New Jersey. Thank you, Alana for your warm welcome and spot on recommendations! Food is delicious ! This is the Chilean Bass with Lemon Sauce—"
"Went here after my sister’s wedding. What a wonderful treat. We had a fairly set menu - appetizer, salad, and dessert was set, we had a choice between several options for the main course. I had the filet and it was cooked well and seasoned really well. The appetizer was a prosciutto and melon salad on arugula. It was delicious. We had a separate salad served as well. And the drinks were delicious - I had an espresso martini."
"Good and mostly authentic southern Italian restaurant. The service was a bit slow but they were very busy. Nice old style ambiance, vado manu with dishes unusual in the US (scialatielli, friarielli, fusilli fatti in casa). Many fish and meat options. Overall a very good experience for a Native American like me. Plenty of appetizers (good calamari and crocchè di patate). Parking available in the back. Good wine list."
