Grand View Hospital

"I sat in the ER waiting room at Grand View yesterday from 1pm to 8pm and was NEVER seen by anyone except to take my vitals. I had severe vomiting, diarrhea, and terrible stomach cramping. The worst I felt in my LIFE! Many, many people who came in after me were seen in a very timely manor. (And I had legit insurance!) Half of the people that came in around the same time as me, they were still there waiting when I left. Many tried to complain to check in staff, but they just ignored. The poor older man next to me had gotten there at 10:30am and finally left at 7pm never having been seen. Terrible operation. And the nurses were not particularly nice or helpful. Would have been better if it was socialized medicine. (Never thought I would say that!)"

"Staff is nice, but ER has chronic long waits. Over 10 people around me, currently, have not been determined for admittance or discharge after 14 hours. To clarify: vitals were taken. Name. Insurance. Then nothing. One individual amongst us had been here since 10AM - it is now 4:25AM, next day. Even trauma center patients brought in by ambulance have been sitting for over 10 hours. No offers of blankets made, or pillows. Cafeteria “closes” at 9, but only to non-staff. ER staff/security was unsympathetic to this, until guilt tripping them into permitting people to get food not from a vending machine. Edit: it’s now 7:30am, still nothing. This is borderline neglect. We were offered no accommodations for sleep."

"Wow, cant believe how bad this ER is. Hours of waiting (3+) lies ahead for you before being seen. Staff are nice but this place is severely mismanaged. Please don't bother replying with the patient relations nonsense, already called and to no surprise they're too busy to pick up the phone as well. What a joke. With all the similar reviews, clearly this is the norm, avoid."

"I’ve always received good care at Grandview. My issue is having to wait 2-3 weeks for results of a mammogram so I will have to go somewhere else from now on so I can receive my results in a timely manner. As a breast cancer survivor, we shouldn’t have to wait this long to get our results."

"Absolutely best staff ever ! I needed to be seen for something that could have turned into a medical emergency. I was taken back immediately by the lovely secretary. Nurse Mike and Nurse Ryan were speedy and swift with their assessment. The ultrasound tech Debora was proficient with her skills. The director Mark was the most sweetest and empathetic person ever. The charge nurse was at bedside readily available to answer any questions I had. The NP was reassuring and elaborate with all of her medical recommendations. I can honestly say kudos to this facility and their staff for going above and beyond me for. Thank you!"
