Reviews of Steingard Medical Associates
"Joseph Steingard completely missed my wife's illness. In fact, he told her and me that she was psycho-sematic. In other words, she was imagining the symptoms. Upon visiting another doctor after a considerable delay, (since she tried to convince herself that the pain and symptoms were not real), the doctor suspected Scheraderma. Upon testing, it was confirmed, my wife contracted Progressive Systemic Schlerosis. My wife passed two years ago of lung disease precipitated by Schleraderma. A passing that could have been avoided if proper care were first administered. Thank you Joseph Seingard. I guess you should stick to caring for your own dogs as a Vet."
"My 15 year partner Suzy saw Doctor Testa here for many years. He was kind, helpful, and caring. Ashley the Nurse Practitioner was also seeing Suzy. Suzy signed a document, stating that you could not abuse your medication, or have a dirty urine, if tested. She abides by these rules. Unfortunately Mr Jeffery Freeman, Who left a 1 Star review, knew he needed to either stay clean, (while smoking MMJ in his native Netherlands country is legal, that same MMJ in his system here in PA, isn’t legal without a MMJ card! (I guarantee you Mr. Freeman knew that, as every patient there sign the same document and yet he still bombs this office with a one star review. Shameful!) Patients simply get a PA Medical marijuana, license, to smoke MMJ in PA legally, and see the doctors there, to get pain meds! Why would any doctor put themselves at risk, by letting patients squeeze by without proper documentation. [Meanwhile, I do feel bad for him, because l also have a very bad spinal cord injury as a disabled vet. (US ARMY Veteran 85-88) After a base accident, l had a burst fracture of the third lumbar, the vertebrae shattered, and many of the millions-of these tiny little shards and razor sharp pieces which sliced into and through my spinal cord. I had several 18 to 24 hour surgeries back in 92 through 95, trying to get it repaired. It’s extremely painful, and I’m getting a NJ MMJ license, so l can have that as medicine that can help over my pain meds] l hate crying out in severe pain at night, when everything fails me! Only a dap will help. I’m using CBD dab wax, in a Vape ape. It’s legal until l get my MMJ Card! Anyway, l have never seen anything but very caring and compassionate care, coming from their office. My partner Suzy has been very well taken care of by these doctors. She does however think that the wait time is occasionally longer then a 30 minute wait. Since I wait outside for her, as I drive her over, I have noticed that, she does not come back sometimes for up to 2 hours. That is too long, and something may need to be done about that. However, when patients get backed up because one patient needs to be seen longer, or there was an emergency, and the doctor had to help out or whatever, things happen. Doctors are very important people, and we as a society have to learn how to deal with that. We know they care about us, and we know they care about all their other patients!"
"Was forced to flee the country due to this doctor... This doctor had been my GP for many many years, at least 7 or 8. Ashley who worked there as a nurse was always sweet and generally protected me from the doctors who had almost no regard for their patients. But because of Ashly it worked. Now for some background I live half of the year int eh netherlands. I dont drink or do drugs but cannabis is legal there and i found it helped treat my sleeping disorder (Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder). So when in the Netherlands I use it as a safer alternative to my sleep medication. Anyway back to the story. So after many years I was in a devestating spinal injury that left me unable to stand on my own. If i coughed or moved I had passed out from the pain more than once. There was an MRI and X-ray which confirmed the injury the same week it occured. I went to Steingard in the hopes he could do something. Before he had any concern with my injury, how it happened, what he would treat, his first words when he heard "pain" was to give me a drug test. Never mind that I couldnt even stand to pee, never mind the fact that he expected ME to pay out of pocket for a drug test that doesnt address my issue, that was his priority. When i made it clear to him that i was clean except cannabis and that i consumed it legally in the Netherlands his response was immediately to tell me not only that he would refuse to help or treat my injury but all the medication which he had been prescribing for the last 8 years he would now revoke. Basically blood pressure medication and my sleeping pill (since i cant legally consume Cannabis in the USA). Obvious I was very angry, not only did he not treat the problem but by revoking my sleeping medication it also meant any chance of sleeping through the pain at night was gone. It was horrible. To add insult to injury I later called the office in tears begging for him to help as i am in no medical condition to start trying to find a new doctor at the time. He answered my tears by saying "come right over i setup an appointment".. When i arrived i was served with papers tell me I was being dropped as a patient and was no longer allowed to receive further treatment of him of any kind. Ultimately I had to find a russian doctor able to inject my spine with enough pain killers and steroids for me to endure a 10,000$ flight to the netherlands (I needed to buy a flight with a bed as i couldnt sit upright) where I could receive proper medical attention. Word of warning, do NOT use this doctor. Also in all my years with them my weight time was usually 1 - 3 hours more than half the time. It was pretty unbearable."
"this is an open letter to "Steingard & Testa Medical Associates" located in south philly. Please everyone **reshare** this so it reaches as many as possible. This doctor was my doctor of 5 years and was so cruel and self serving they pushed me to severe risk and trauma because they refused to help me when I needed medical attention most... While i am very sympathetic to the opiate epidemic and do agree we need to solve it, the problem is the current approach makes it much much worse, let me relay my own expiernce to tell you why. I recently had a very severe disc herniation. Much of the time i cant make it even one step away from my bed. I needed some sort of pain killer to help until it could be resolved, i also tried all the alternatives first, NSAID, steroids, ice, etc. NSAID did almost nothing for the extreme pain and steroids helped a lot but I wasnt allowed to stay on them for more than a week and the second i was off them I was worse then when I started. I needed some sort of pain medications or else my life felt like constant and literal physical torture. So I approached my doctor of 5 years, he knew well that I have never asked for any scheduled drug of any kind. In fact the few times he offered Adderall i refused (for my ADHD). He flat out refused me any pain medications because he said i had to pass a drug test to get them, well i live in Holland and only stopped by america to pick something up and got stuck there. I told him "I would pass on all drugs but marijuana, but it was legal where i smoked it". Hearing that he refused me any medication and told me he could not since i couldn't pass a drug test. Later in dire pain i called the office and begged and pleaded in tears. On the spot he dropped me as a patient all together and told me i could not be seen by him again (in the middle of a major injury). I then went on to call at least 20 doctors to get help and they all said under no circumstances would a new patient be prescribed a controlled substance. Now keep in mind i had an MRI and an X-ray to confirm the severity of my condition. Now all i really needed or wanted was Tylenol II (basically Acetaminophen + codeine). While it is an opiate it is the absolute weakest form of opiate you can get. Since I was refused, and since i will not accept others abusing me or telling me what i can or cant do with my own body, my only solution was to scavenge drugs. I called every drug addict and family member i knew to try to get some pain killers to help. I finally got a nice collection together but since all drug users want are the strong things like morphine, oxycodon and hydrocodone all i had was a pile of stuff 10x - 100x stronger and more addictive than i needed. I did manage to get 4 codeine pills but they only last 4 hours each so that only held me over for a day. In the end due to a pathetic attempt to address the drug epidemic they forced a non-addicted suffering patient to take drugs far riskier and more addictive than needed and drastically increased my risk of addiction, all in the ironically vain attempt to prevent my addiction. Luckily as of yesterday I managed to reduce my swelling through use of a ketogenic diet enough that the pain is lessened and I stopped taking morphine. 2 days in with no morphine and I am not addicted, but I am one of the lucky few who isn't very easily addicted. Long story short it NEVER pays to dictate what people can do with their own body, even drugs. Provide advice and support and leave the power with the individual."
