"The problem I had was the doctor’s appointment of 10/11 was made in August so I had to wait until October 11. I called to confirm the appointment time because I have 2 calendars in my phone and didn’t remember the correct time. This was done at the end of September. They informed me that my October 11 appointment had been canceled but nobody called me. I had arranged my non emergency ride through MTM so now I had to cancel the October ride to move it up to November 1st. Had I not contacted RIENT to confirm the appointment time they would have dropped me off and leave. I would have been stranded until I called MTM and they would have told me that I had to wait up to an hour before the ride came. I hope the November ride can be scheduled.November update: this is a very real thorough place. 15 minute wait, no other patients yet. I went right in and after I explained my problem he stuck a scope with a light at the end through my nostril and found that my right vocal cord was paralyzed in the closed position. I had to go for 2 different MIR’s ( my brain and throat) 80 minutes in the MIR machine went well. I’m usually claustrophobic but this time there were no headphones because they don’t fit in the machine and I expected to have claustrophobic but I wasn’t. 2 days later I had to go to a Cumberland clinic for a CTscan. But their MIR machine was not recommended because I have a metallic heart valve .Thats why they sent me to east Providence.. Now I have to go to Miriam hospital for a contrast swallow test and I go back to the ENT. Great experience overall from the front the front office to all the tests. I’m hoping it isn’t cancer! I don’t understand why so many complaints. I walked in and I had already downloaded their 3 page form so I went in prepared. I had filled it out by using my iPhone. I walked in, brought my forms all filled out and they were very helpful and polite. I sat for about 15 minutes and taken right in. Doctor was like most doctors are ( busy examining me). But he said that my right vocal cord was paralyzed and he sent me out for 2 MRI’s in East Providence, a cat scan in Cumberland and the only thing left is my Miriam test I have no idea what they’re going to do. December 5 at 8:30 is my appointment date and time and I go back to RIENT two weeks from now for the final exam I hope.. I’m glad my PCP referred me there. Good experience with staff and doctor Emery. Everything was smooth and quick. Update: I finished all the tests and I have to go to RIH for another test and I have an appointment set with. Dr Emery so wish me luck!"
"Not sure who some of you are talking about - receptionist (Alicia) was helpful, polite, kind, understood my issue ...didn't have anything readily available but asked if I minded holding for a minute and she would check the other offices... apparently there was a cancellation and she got me in on Monday. I will post again once I see the doctor but so far so good."
"Wow, I don't even know what to say. For starters, I have not even seen them for healthcare yet, but based on my first impression, this place is either overwhelmed, incompetent, or just plain indifferent to the needs of the public. I called first thing in the morning to book an appointment, and the woman answering on the other end copped such an attitude, like I was somehow inconveniencing her asking to book an appointment to be seen. Then she hung up on me! I called back and thankfully the second person who answered the second time around gave a damn, but even they put me on hold for nearly ten minutes, and I began to doubt it I would ever receive attention from these people. If you can help it, go elsewhere. If I wasn't afraid to lose this much needed appointment, I would go somewhere else sooner if I could."
"I saw Dr. Newberry after experiencing bad hearing and my face drooping for a few days. I had previously seen my PCP and was prescribed antibiotics for a bacterial infection. My symptoms did not improve and I was sent home from my job working bc ppl were having trouble with me because I couldn't hear. I felt crazy when my husband told me my face wasnt working right. 2 weeks later I got in to see Dr. Newberry and he diagnosed me with Ramsay-Hunt syndrome. He made sure I could get in to get a hearing test that day even though they were busy and he got me the medications I needed that day. He made sure to teach me about everything. My face is completely working now and my hearing is improving! Thank goodness I got in to see him."
