"Not efficient at all. They sent me home with an oxygen sensor that needed new batteries, which I replaced myself. Then had to replace them again the next night because it does not shut itself off properly. Then, they tried to steer me into the most expensive CPAP possible without going over any options. And they told I could pay my deductible in installments. But when the receptionist explained how this works she said I had to pay everything up front. When I said I couldn’t afford it all at once, they said they’d contact a different CPAP provider. They did not. I got a call a few days later from them wondering what was happening. They said they’d send the prescription to a provider that I’d found. They failed to do that. I called them back and they said they’d sent it to the wrong provider. They are incompetent."
"I had my first appointment with Dr. Khamies yesterday! Everyone in that office was so helpful. I admit I was scared. I haven't been to a doctor in 20 years. The staff made me feel comfortable. Dr. Khamies was so nice, funny, pleasant and professional. He really cares about his patients and treated me like I was a member of his family. Arlene the pft girl was so nice and calmed me down. Dr. Khamies will be my " forever doctor". I recommend him to anyone who wants to be treated with dignity and respect. Thank you to everyone in that office. Albert toupin"
"I've been tested for any kind of pulmonary function in a booth then the results are submitted to the doctor and we sit down together and discuss the results of the test. It's quick except I get a little winded and light headed during the 10 minute test but it doesn't last long. So far, so good, I was put on Flonase and Albuterol and Ventolin. It's a rescue inhaler. Never had to use it but I have it if I need it. UPDATE: 11/23/21 I have recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea. A C-pap machine was ordered but it took almost a year to get my new C-pap machine. Several factors came into play here. The pulmonologist sent my insurance a prescription for a new machine but it took about a month before he faxed it to my healthcare insurance. It was denied because it was only a script. Medicare, who pays for durable medical equipment, needed documents from the doctor asking why did he feel I needed this $1300 machine. And the pressure needs were to be included. It took my pulmonologist about another month before he sent in the documents to my insurance company, who has a contract with Medicare and Medicaid. It was finally approved but that took 2 to 3 weeks to approve. Medicare approved it. It was then faxed over to Apria, the company that sells them. I chose Apria from a list of six my insurance gave me to choose from. After Apria received the fax they sent me an email in a PDF format that I had to digitally sign with my fingertip. It was the contract. An email came a while back later to tell me that it was ordered but would take two weeks to get it. What a joke! Two weeks later I called and was told that there is a backlog of machines due to the Philips recall of millions of machines. The machine from Philips had a big problem. Their machine's insulating foam was degrading and bits of foam were going into the tube and eventually lodged in the lungs causing users to develop cancer, among many other symptoms. The gasses coming from the foam was another problem. The gasses coming from the foam was dangerous and poisonous and deadly. It appearently started around 2015 when Philips received many complaints regarding this issue. They ignored the complaints and kept making them the same way until recently when 3,500 complaints came in regarding the same issues. The FDA finally stepped in and they ordered Philips to provide documentation of safety and other issues. They ordered Philips to provide lab results showing in their reports all kinds of information as to why did this happen. Philips dragged their feet and submitted a glowing review report. The FDA approved the results and Philips and the FDA agreed to a repair or replace solution. The report, it turns out, was produced by Philips own (biased?) Company. Realizing that they had been duped. The FDA sent in their own inspectors. That inspection revealed 29 pages of various violations. Users desperately needing these machines were told to contact their doctor's if the risks were worth taking. Different doctors had conflicting answers. They have still not provided the FDA any proposed solutions and are stonewalling the FDA. The Philips Dreamstation 1 was the machine poisoning people and sending foam bits into their lungs. Their solution was still repair or replace plus they upgraded to a Dreamstation 2 after they replaced the foam and the wait was one year. Meanwhile, Resmed Airsense 11 came out from the Resmed company. And that was the machine he ordered for me. But, because of the Philips recall, everybody ran out to get a Resmed Airsense 10 as the 11 hadn't been out yet, I got a Resmed Airsense 11 C-pap machine with Bluetooth technology and all automatic. And my doctor could read my compliance by a computer in his office. Problem was their weren't any around then. They had all been scooped up! The FDA is still waiting on Philips because they had approved Philips repair or replace solution based on a Philips (biast)tests and Philips has not cooperated with the FDA. Anyway, now he ordered a nebulizer for me. Took two and a half weeks between all the parties involved."
