Reviews of Winnapaug Country Club
"Played my first round at this course a few days ago. My first impression was not good. The clubhouse and carts are definitely worse for wear. It appears the management has limited resources to work with. As I played my round it became apparent that they are using their resources where it matters most - on the course. The mostly wide fairways and the greens are in very good condition. When hitting from the fairways I had excellent lies. I was very impressed with how well the ball rolled when putting on nicely manicured greens. You can have some very challenging putts, but most of the greens are fairly flat. This is a very well designed course. Each hole has its own unique layout. You should be able to score well with the open layout that has little bunkering. Despite winding its way through nice residential areas, most of the course still feels quite isolated. If you are expecting a Ross designed country club experience you may be disappointed. If you are expecting a Ross designed local muni course (on major steroids), you will be thrilled with this course. It is now on my list of favorites!"
"My husband and I have been playing this course for 30+ years. After it sold, conditions deteriorated, and the course suffered for quite some time. The hard work over the past several years is now evident. The fairways have come back beautifully, and although the greens are a bit slow, they were in lovely shape. I would recommend returning to this track, if you haven't been there in awhile. On the down side, we played Thursday, the 7th of September. Hot, humid day, and the 19th hole wasn't open when we arrived, nor when we finished? Lots of thirsty people had to go elsewhere. Hope this was a fluke?"
"Ocean views abound Carly let me run a tab Breezes swirl about The course is in great shape. Free $10 lunch with a drink included with the price of admission. Fun holes. Forces you to make smart decisions on half the holes and let’s you close your eyes and grip it and rip it on the other half. The mobile cart bar superstar is a solid woman and the inside bar staffed by the coolest volunteer there could be. Only cons: No water jugs on the course. Please add a couple. Could have used a marshal. The foursome in front of us slowed us and the 4 Groups behind us and never picked up the pace or offered to let us play through from hole 4 on. Skip those fad motorcycle carts. Just walk. They are hard on an old back even if they are fun. A definite return spot. #5-7-5"
"Must try their new electric golf bikes! They are fun and easy to ride. Grab a bite at The Clubhouse Restaurant, the food us delicious, great prices and excellent service! This golf course is great, easy, and fun!"
"Great Course! Beautiful Links style course that is in great condition. Course runs through a variety of settings and terrain to make your round interesting. Some holes are wide open where you can get away with spraying the ball, but there are also many holes where it is OB on both sides of the fairway. Some water views and a par 3 directly on the marsh. A friendly, helpful and informative golf staff makes checking in and starting easy. We had a large group and we all grabbed the $10 lunch special. The restaurant staff was great, we had a lot of fun, joking and chatting. Food was good and drinks were very good pours. I am looking forward to my next outing there."
