Reviews of The Village PVD
"The only issue with food was it was slightly warm. The temperature of the food was like when you microwave food and forget about it. The flavor was good just wasn't warm enough. Our server allowed us to try a few samples because it was my first time trying Nigerian food. I will give them a second chance."
"The service was top notch, I was honored to be served by the owner. I had Pounded Yam(not poundo), Egusi Soup and Fish. The seasoning was just right, and if you felt it was not seasoned enough they were nice enough to provide extra. The setting was perfect giving the rich blend of plants around, and the over head speaking playing top 100Nigerian songs. It gives a warm feel like I was home. The staff was wonderful! I would definitely come back, with my friends. If you’re Nigerian, or you want to try mouth watering Nigerian food and you’re in the Great American State of Rhode Island the Ocean State, you definitely want to go there."
"Read on Reddit and someone recommended this place. Unfortunately, the lunch experience that I had was below unacceptable. There was a lunch special for $10 plus tax & tip which was rice, choice of bean, chicken and drink. The food was sitting and didn't look fresh but I went ahead. Attach is the photo of the very small amount of food packaged for lunch. Given was 1 small chicken leg which was not fresh and hard. Rice was salty and oily. Have eaten in different places and sad to say I couldn't recommend this place."
"I found my way here yesterday. I’m used to the Pawtucket location but was temporarily closed due to construction. Pawtucket had already set the standard of great customer service, delicious meals, clean and lively environment so I knew the New location could only be better. Like it’s sister location, Providence location was very bright, located on Main Street in the heart of the city, clean and aesthetics was definitely beyond your typical Nigerian restaurant set up. Very chic with a touch of modern elegance. Customer service was impeccable. We were already seated and told that our main course will be ready in 15minutes. The young lady-manager came out and checked on us about 10min in just to be sure we’re good. Bright smile the entire time. I’m used to Nigerian businesses acting like they’re doing you a favor for selling you things. It was a diff vibe here. Food was DELICIOUS! By the way, that food did come out in 15min, I was actually expecting Nigerian timing lol. The Village Providence is the spot."
"The spice level was good. I enjoyed it. The server who was working that day was really helpful and my favorite part about coming here. I like that it’s ready fast because it’s already done and is served line style to you so you can look at it as you order. I had the jollof rice with half lamb and half beef and the zobo drink (very strong taste but it was good, would mix really well with alcohol - which is what I did after but I don’t believe this location serves alcohol at all) The meat was partially okay but some of my meal tasted like it was maybe left uncovered for too long bc it was dried out. I will probably go for their vegan option instead next time. They maybe need to use see through plastic lids instead of metal like they have now so they can keep it covered for longer but still display it. Very hard to park in this area. Front entry is a bit confusing (you go through the bank entrance first and take a left)"
