About the YMCA Camp Watchaug
YMCA Camp Watchaug is a premier summer day camp located at 95 High Street in Westerly, Rhode Island. Founded in 1948 by the Westerly-Pawcatuck YMCA, the camp originally operated at Burlingame State Park before moving to a 30-acre waterfront property on Watchaug Pond. With a history of serving thousands of children, families, and the community, Camp Watchaug offers a valuable outdoor experience for campers.
The camp offers a variety of programs and activities for campers to enjoy, including the Toni's Kids integration initiative, which provides support for children with diverse disabilities. Participants engage with typically developing peers and learn YMCA core values while building lifelong social skills.
Camp Watchaug also offers financial assistance through the YCares program to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in YMCA programs. Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable, and members are required to present their membership card for admission.
By signing a release and waiver of liability, participants acknowledge and accept the risks associated with YMCA activities. This includes assuming responsibility for their safety and agreeing to hold the Ocean Community YMCA harmless against any liability, loss, damage, or injury.
Camp Watchaug encourages individuals to become a part of the Watchaug Legacy by enrolling in programs, becoming a camper, or joining the staff. With a commitment to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, Camp Watchaug continues to offer a memorable summer camp experience for the next generation of campers.
