"I had Judy Assad as a divorce attorney a couple years ago. I was reading these reviews and couldn't help but share my experience. I found Judy to be straight forward, no nonsense, and to the point. Another persons review brought up that she is well known in the family court system. SHE IS, if you do not think that carrys any weight, you are sadly mistaken. Judy was more than competent (I would say very well versed) accommodating, and what I felt was most important AVAILABLE for me during a dark time. None of us enter our marriages expecting to fail. I hired Judy for her experience, and knowledge. Yes, there are many attorneys that pass the bar every year, but there are not many attorneys who can walk into a court room and receive the respect of the judges they practice in front of. I hope to never have to do this again but if I did I would hire Judy again in a heartbeat."

Never spoke to the other significant people in child's life, school, doctor. Edit to add: I am one of the significant others in the child's life. You are correct, you never interacted with me at all."

"Judy was hired to act as guardian ad litem to my children in a contentious divorce case. Right off the bat it took her months to get ahold of my ex or I to schedule a time to meet our children, which caused further delays and additional costs to my attorney and the courts. She was extremely forgetful, missing appointments with us or calling hours before to reschedule because she forgot she had something else going on. I do not believe she advocated for the best interests of my children and dismissed actual concerns for their safety. I have no faith in her ability to speak on behalf of children and ensure their voices are heard."

"Judy was recommended by my attorney to act as Guardian ad litem for my children in a very contentious divorce case. While we had many things that in common and got along quite well, I cannot overstate how disappointed I am in her performance. My displeasure is not a result of my “losing” any court battle, but because over a two year period, Judy was intimately involved in the matters of our case and much of the communication between the parties, and I have seen more than enough to justify my opinion of her. The major problems I encountered were as follows: Honesty/Integrity: There we’re multiple times during our case where Judy displayed a gross lack of ethics/integrity. Conversations that were “off the record” made their way into her testimony and reporting. On two occasions, Judy was tasked by the Judge with facilitating visitation between myself and my three children. On both occasions, she failed to do so. In one of the incidents, she was asked repeatedly to set up the visitation for 4 MONTHS, but only did so shortly before our next court appearance, presumable so she wouldn’t have to answer to the judge as to why a child was kept from their parent without cause for 5 months. At that hearing, Judy showed she was more concerned with covering for her failure, and blamed the party that repeatedly asked her to facilitate the visitation, as the reason. Judy would attempt to seize any opportunity to end the case, even if it negatively affected the three children involved. She didn’t do what was right, she did what was easy, and that is unacceptable when talking about the welfare of children. Organization/memory: As our case progressed, Judy would often be forgetful of certain facts and would confuse our case with others. Judy was also notoriously late with reports and paperwork. Six months after her “final” report was due, she still had not completed it. The report she did provide was the equivalent of a term paper completed the night before it was due. Her report, which was to give insight into the relationship dynamics and determine what was best for the children after two years of weekly involvement, was six pages that made refer nice to a few events that had happened just prior. There was no justification provided for her recommendations, and she has been incapable of providing one. There was a time in which I thought Judy and I were very similar. I realized in the end that we are not similar at all. When it comes to matters involving the welfare of children, taking the easy way out is inexcusable to me, especially when you’ve already been shown the harm caused. I don’t know if my experience is the result of ineptitude, corruption, or laziness, but The damage Judy caused is done and it doesn’t really matter at this point."

"When you think of Attorneys, you probably don't think of honesty and straightforwardness. That is exactly what you get with Judy B. Assad. Even if you don't want to hear her honesty, you will get that from her. She is a no-nonsense, class-A Attorney who definitely knows her stuff. Why hire some no-name attorney when you could hire a well-respected attorney whose name is known all over the family and district court? Remember, in Rhode Island, who you hire for an attorney is JUST as important as who you receive for a Judge- so don't go with the cheapest no-name lawyer, go with a lady who is well known, well respected and packs a punch! She is one smart cookie!!!"
