"I had an initial session with Lise Deguire, Psy.D. soon after my long-term psychologist moved far from my home. When I first called to inquire, I informed Lise Deguire that I have bipolar disorder type 1 and issues with anxiety. During our meeting, I spent 10 minutes filling out paperwork. She then asked approximately six questions. I mentioned my main therapy goals and that I was currently on disability. I was definitely not in crisis, and she even said that I was a “pleasant woman”. At the end, she stated that she would be unable to accept me as a client because she felt I needed a therapist with “a team”, which she does not have. I do have a long-term psychiatrist, and none of my past psychologists/therapists ever had “a team” of the sort she described. I was flabbergasted! Though I am happy I did not continue with a therapist incapable of assisting me, I do wish I had been spared a session that cost me $115 (a price she stated was “discounted” for the day). I suggest that if you are interested in her services, and have a significant psychiatric diagnosis, to first ask her several questions, by phone or email, to deduce if what happened to me may happen to you. My assumption is that she only accepts clients with more minor issues. My two-star rating of her is only because I was spared a second session."
