"MY SUMMER WAS SAVED BY BLACKBIRD MOTORS! May 8th, 2021, After 25 years of faithful service, my Johnson 200 venom gave up. My local mechanic quoted 12-18 months to get a new Mercury replacement with the current industry backlogs. Searching online for a solution I found Blackbird Industries. Mike Jr. answered all my questions and let me know what Remanufactured engines they had in-stock and ready to go. After I decided on a remanufactured Merc 250 Pro XS, and using pictures and sketches of my boat (1996 Viper Boats Cobra 201d) Mike explained the upgrades to controls I would need when switching over to Mercury. A wealth of knowledge and experience, we spec’d out the upgrade to hydraulic steering, and addition of a Powrtran jackplate that would make this a perfect upgrade. I made the 12.5 hr drive from Arkansas to have the install “while you wait” completed. With all the additional rigging it did take a bit more than the normal 8hr while you wait service. The team at Blackbird are experts in marine engines and did a super clean install. The team stayed late to make sure I could get back on the road for the trip home. The 2013 remanufactured 250 XS looked “Like New” and now that I’ve had it out on a few trips I can report that it runs “Like New”. An awesome powerhouse that has put new life in my fishing rig! Really happy that only 4weeks after my Johnson laid down on me, I was back in action. Thanks Mike for all your advice and knowledge share during this process.
