Reviews of Virtua OB/GYN - Cherry Hill
"I had a horrible experience choosing Virtua Cherry Hill for my pregnancy this time around. I had my baby in June 2023. I live in Burlington but I specifically chose to go out of my way to Cherry Hill Virtua instead of Westampton to be seen so I can deliver at Virtua Voorhees because I heard good things about it. My office visits went well. I met most of the physicians and mostly saw Dr. Luisa Galdi. She was great. When it came time to my delivery, unfortunately to my luck, I had the ONE doctor I had never met. She was an on call only physician that Virtua hired, Dr. Tikikul Firdu. She was not an office physician hence I had never met her. This right off the bat put a bad taste in my mouth. No one ever mentioned anything about her. I had to deliver with someone I did not meet and did not feel comfortable with. She had horrible reviews and even my nurse said she is not great. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and went through with it, but she had HORRRRIBLE bedside manner. After the delivery, she briefed me on the delivery while I was still half out of it. She said something about my baby being larger than expected so he got “stuck” and next time around I should consider a c-section. First of all, WHICH NEXT TIME? How are you going to just assume there is going to be a “next time”. Maybe this was my last child. Just an odd thing to say. How about maybe you shouldn’t have let him get stuck this time. Fast forward one week I took him to the pediatrician and I mentioned that my delivery doctor said that and she said that he may have a fractured clavicle. The delivery OBY did not chart the incident anywhere and no one in the hospital followed up on it during my stay there because it was never relayed to anyone except to me right after the delivery. I also never saw that doctor again after the delivery. She did not come back and touch base with me. My pediatrician ordered an xray for him and surely he had a fractured clavicle. That was the first incident. The second incident that really made this experience go south for me was the fact that I asked my gynecologist Luisa Galdi to perform a circumcision for my son. The time came to take him for the procedure and she backed out. She said she was not comfortable with it due to torsion and that urology would come and consult in the morning. Urology said the same exact thing she said. We were adamant to have it done due to religious reasons. Urology said they did not feel comfortable with it and they advised that we should wait until he is 6 months old. Of course if the doctor performing doesn’t feel comfortable, we cannot force them. Both Dr. Galdi and the Urologist made us feel super comfortable with delaying the procedure until later and encouraged us to wait. We asked them pros and cons but both of them failed to mention a VERY important detail. They failed to tell us that getting the procedure done outpatient is going to cost $50,000. NOT ONCE did they mention anything about the cost of it later down the line. Even after insurance, we are having to pay $6,000 to get it done now. Had I known this information, I may have urged them to do it in the hospital regardless of the risks. I feel like they are trapping patients into getting it done outpatient at Virtua CHOP Voorhees so that they can make a quick buck off of insurance. They should have at least made us aware that this will be the cost and let us make the decision rather than comforting us to have it done later as if it will be no big deal. Now we are having to pay 6K for a minor procedure that should have just been done in the hospital. We are having to pay for something that is completely out of our hands and rather the fault of the physicians who did not feel comfortable doing it even after we insisted. We should not be responsible or have to pay this when there was no transparency and not our fault it was not done. I am very furious at having to pay out of pocket for this just because they did not want to do it in the hospital. I feel deceived and disappointed overall. Do not recommend this practice to anyone!!"
"Do not go to Dr. Julia Lancaster!! She sent me for labs during my first prenatal visit. I had just eaten an everything bagel & she assured me I did not need to fast for these tests. So I took her advice as a professional & headed right to LabCorp to do these labs. I ended up with a false positive from the everything bagel. Obviously destrought & upset I called the office & was assured they would throw out the test & retest me. I retested immediately & passed as well as passed at time of delivery. Regardless social services were called to the hospital because of this false positive. What was supposed to be a joyous time has been an absolute nightmare. I trusted Dr. Julia Lancaster & my life will forever be altered. I am dealing with the most stressful situation of my life over an everything bagel. She should have told me to fast or warned me this could happen. She also told me to only gain 10 lbs this entire pregnancy. My baby weighed 9lbs 7ozs. So clearly that was impossible to gain nothing. I'm sure she could care less but this has been a very unjust situation. & If she just advised me differently it would have never happened."
"Everyone I met in the office is so kind and nice. They made me feel very comfortable and you can tell the care. Going to the lady doctor isn't always fun but they make it less stressful. Absolutely recommend."
"I saw Dr Julia Lancaster and she was terrible. She was so cold and abrasive I couldn’t believe it. She seemed so put off that I was uncomfortable. She acted annoyed that I didn’t want to do a vaginal ultrasound. But I didn’t want to do a vaginal ultrasound because her demeanor made me that uncomfortable. She talked so fast I could barely understand her. My husband answered some questions for me to help me and she was annoyed that he would speak for me. Even though he was helping me. I felt like she was trying to scare me by naming all these risks. When I pushed back and asked how likely these things were she could not give me an answer. The whole experience was unpleasant. This is my first baby and I honestly thought the doctor was supposed to make you feel comfortable. Silly me."
"Can't recommend enough based on my OB experience. We moved to the area and transferred to this office from the city when I was already 5 months pregnant and the transition was seamless. The front desk is friendly (even remembered my name when I was going weekly haha) and i was always seen promptly every time. I appreciate the early morning appointment options The midwives and doctors during labor and post labor treatment were wonderful. I completely trusted their care and decisions and they kept me informed the whole time. I had complications post labor and Dr Daniels approached the treatment plan conversation with empathy and by explaining the logic about next steps during an emotional time All doctors were great and attentive but Dr Galdi and Dr Daniels stand out as members of the care team who especially listened and who kept us informed with all necessary information. And shoutout to nurse Janet in the office for helping me deal with paperwork and being very responsive when dealing with the state Overall thankful to every one who helped with a safe pregnancy and delivery!"
