"I agree with many others. I had an emergency situation with my second pregnancy. I had to call and leave a message with a receptionist, wait to receive a call back from a nurse, leave a message with a nurse and wait to receive a call back from the nurse reporting on what the doctor told the nurse. An OBGYN couldn't bother to call me during an emergency. Meanwhile, I was waiting at Presbyterian ER for over 5 hours. When the OBGYN finally called me back, THE NEXT DAY, she casually mentioned I should have gone to HUP. Great timing on that advice. UPenn's only redeeming quality is that I did end up receiving great care at HUP (the PEC center), but my OBGYN was completely useless. I have PTSD from my experience, due to the fact that I could not receiving timely care during a pregnancy emergency. Very unfortunate for women, especially considering maternal mortality is so high in the US."
"I will preface this by saying that thankfully I am a healthy woman who only goes to this practice for annual examinations. I've lived in Philadelphia for 15 years and have pretty much been going here this whole time. In the beginning I had a great gyn and I had no problems getting in. She eventually left the practice and I got a new gyn who was impossible to schedule. Every year it was a chore just to get a basic appointment. Last year I was able to see a different gyn, but again I find myself in the same position this year where scheduling is unnecessarily difficult - even when I request to be scheduled with any available clinician at this point, since I don't have any specific needs. I don't have anything against the providers, but the scheduling model of this place is appalling. For reference, I work in health care as a clinician myself. Our schedules are open months into the future. If someone calls in June for an appointment in December, we schedule it. The gyn office seemingly only opens schedules up monthly (very inefficient for well-visits). This year I was due for my annual around Sept and I called in the summer to schedule. I was told I'm not due until Sept and that the Sept schedule was not open and to call back later when the Sept schedule opened. I did as instructed and September was full and I was told to call back again. We've been back and forth, and I still don't have an appointment because every schedule of every provider is full. I usually schedule appointments with other Penn divisions (primary care, ophthalmology, radiology, etc...) via MyChart and yet it's impossible to do even that with this division because the schedule is always full or not open. To have to go through this every year for basic preventative healthcare is such a poor way to run a clinic. This is how people fall through the cracks in the healthcare system, end up not being seen for years, and find out something is seriously wrong with them when it's too late. Whatever their scheduling protocols are, they are extremely inefficient for basic preventative care. Each year I'm more and more disappointed and frustrated with this division. Thankfully I've not needed them for OB care, because this would be atrocious for a pregnant woman. As I said, I haven't had any issues with the clinicians, but the issues with the back office/scheduling policies are enough of a problem to warrant this review."
"Terrible Customer Service. They take days to call you back even when you are 38 weeks pregnant. Communication is horrible. The staff including doctors and nurses do not treat patients with respect. I feel like I cannot trust them with one of the most dangerous times of a woman's life."
"Tried for two years to get a follow up appt and was told to call back because of a long wait list. Called again today and was told I had to be put in as a new patient again because they haven't seen me in three years....due to THEIR lack of availabilty. I called another OBGYN based out of Holy Redeemer and got a new patient for May. Unbelievable."
"I honestly don't know why they are rated so low. Customer service is good, everybody inside was so nice and welcoming, the place is clean. It was my best 1st pregnancy journey ever! Pam Lee delivered my baby and believe me when I tell you she is the NICEST! I felt like she was family. On one of my last appointments before I gave birth I wasn't feeling well and told the lady to give me a trash can, almost all the team came to me after to give me water and make sure I was ok. What can I day more... They make me wanna get pregnant again & again. Most of my friends & family who have kids told me not a lot of places treat you so good like that."
