"I bought a rod here recently. It broke 3 days later during standard cast (was clearly a manufacturer defect). Shop was generally unhelpful after I spent almost 400 dollars there 3 days earlier. They could have gone a little extra mile to help, but they didn’t. Seemed like bare minimum effort... I rectified the problem with the manufacturer myself directly. Now I’m all for solving my own problems, but I’m also for dealers that stand by the products they sell and the relationship they have with the brands they carry to help a customer when something is clearly wrong. This shop seemingly does not. What’s the point of buying from a local shop? Charity? It’s hard to keep trying to support mom and pop shops when this sort of thing happens. I just should have bought it from Orvis directly I’d have ended up in the same boat. Or just gotten it from Amazon and there wouldn’t have been any questions asked at all and they would have immediately replaced. By the way. When I spoke to Orvis directly the rep told me in a situation like this, considering the time frame and the nature of the break, the dealer should have done the right thing and just replaced to get me back in the water (I’m on a trip) , but they can’t compel their dealers to actually do the right thing. If the shop spoke to their Orvis rep (supposedly the owner did - he was not onsite) and he said otherwise they may want to have a follow up conversation with Orvis about it. One extra star because the lady behind the counter was polite and seemed genuinely bummed about the situation."

The gentleman I spoke with had plenty of information for me and also had a nice conversation about fishing. I purchased some lively legs nymphs and went on my way. Great local shop and a staff willing to help."

Definitely situated in among some very wonderful streams. You got to stop here if you’re in the Poconos and you are fly fishing. Always a clutch of tiers around; chatting or tying."
