"Lady is rude, yelled at me and doesn’t know how to talk to other people."
"I remember heading to this place in 4th grade. And I was attending there since 8th grade of my middle school. Got to tell you, coming from a person who keeps everything secluded. It was one of the worst places I have ever been too. Summer camp is alright- typical stuff. But After School care is not the best way you should sent your kids too if you want their mental trauma to extend way higher. Coming from a former person who went to the center for 5 years and had harsh treatment of the place. As much as I adored the director. I believe she was the only nicest person there. Through 5 years I have experienced severe bullying, harassment, racial favoritism and lots of yelling and scolding. The teacher for kids ages 8-12 was very strict. She had very traditional values. The older male teacher was old and acted like a old southern college professor, who made us read newspapers for learning. The children teacher (aka the teacher who look after the kindergarten kids), also had a hardened policy. It was always about rules. And when you are being bullied, they favor for the bully instead of the victim. When you are the targeted victim to bully, everyone hates you. And you have backstabbing people. I once got hit in the nose with a basketball. No one bothered to help me. The bus rides felt sort of quiet due to the drivers attitude. And everyone at the staff are close to each other. I have gotten severe bullying from kids my age, both male and female. People from that place targeted me for intense bullying and harassment. I feel like when your former colleagues are from minorities group, they targeted other minorities that don`t like their ways, tactics, values, habits. Back then I was exposed to a lot of cursing, fights, people hated me just because I wasn`t tough and hard enough for them. I will never take my future next of kin to this place. They have destroyed my childhood and I will never be happy towards them. If you want to send your kids to a place where they want to be treated with slight respect fine. I hope you understand your children more once they encounter all the harshness in this place. Thank you for your time."
"its terrible there i remember getting into fights and people stealing your things the adult showing favoritism im never going back again"
"MLK Youth Center is the best around. They have so many activities for the children in the Summer Camp Program. The after school program is good too and the staff assists the children with homework assignments. Ms. Chopra, the director is very accommodating and friendly; she’s always reasonable and understanding. The staff are amazing as well, especially Ms. Sherri. The center has it’s own buses and provide transportation for the children, which is convenient for working parents. Overall, MLK Youth Center is a safe and fun place for kids."
