RSVP, located at 715 Falconer Street in Jamestown, New York, is a health institution that is proud to sponsor two AmeriCorps Seniors programs: RSVP and Foster Grandparents. AmeriCorps Seniors is a national service network for Americans aged 55 and older, offering opportunities to address critical community needs such as academic tutoring, elderly care, and disaster relief support.

RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for individuals over 55, providing opportunities for local volunteers to use their skills and talents to serve the community. Volunteers in the RSVP program help support organizations like the Salvation Army Food Pantry, St. Susan’s Soup Kitchen, and Chautauqua County Humane Society.

Foster Grandparents in the program serve as role models, mentors, and friends to children with exceptional needs, offering support and guidance to youth in their communities. The local Foster Grandparent Program serves over 150 children each year, providing volunteers with benefits such as paid orientation, travel assistance, and a tax-free hourly stipend for income-eligible individuals.

Volunteering with AmeriCorps Seniors not only benefits the community but also has positive impacts on the volunteers themselves. Older Americans who volunteer frequently report better health and longevity, as staying active physically and socially is beneficial for overall well-being.
