"They are just hire really incompetent people. If you call you'll likely get someone in India who will keep on hold for over an hour and not solve anything until you just give up. Or they say they'll get back to you and never do. I constantly have to appeal my covid test reimbursements because I buy them off Amazon and they get denied. Most likely because Aetna wants you to buy thru CVS so they can get their kickbacks. They altered my wife's labor & delivery hospital bill from 2 years recently and it took months to get resolved. They said we owed over $3k! Even though the bill was settled over a year ago. Most insurance companies aren't great, but these guys are terrible."
"Would give 0 stars if I could. Called before a procedure to confirm it would be covered based on what I found on their website regarding their policy for this condition. Was told over the phone by their rep yes it would as I fit into the criteria listed on their site and they gave me the codes my doctor would have to use to bill them for it to be covered…..only to NOT have it covered. It’s a $1200 bill and it’s something I need to have monthly. They told me it was denied as it’s not part of my coverage when it is. Fraudulent"
"I've been with Aetna for 17+ years. From my experience - everything went down, when the company been sold to CVS. I used to helpful, very personal customer service, readiness to help and attention to details. Now it's all gone. Money, money, money.... They don't care anymore - no help, no attention. The prescriptions with them are more expensive than with GoodRx. Make another choice if you can. Unfortunately I'm tied to them thru my employer."
"Before you choose your insurance company know that this company cares nothing about the people they insure. I am a disabled single mother of 2 children with a small income. Aetna on the other hand generates approximately $60.54 billion per year. I spoke to thier employee Mark on October 1st to see if my ex-husband's medical insurance was still active. I was told by Mark that the insurance was active so I took my 2 children to their medical appointments. I later found out the medical plan actually ended on September 30th. I contacted Aetna to see if they would pay for the 2 appointments the children attended because they gave me incorrect information. The first person basically said sorry but no. I said I wanted to speak to a manager and was told that was not possible but I could speak to another person. I said no I want to speak to a manager. The manager David Roger's called to confirm that their recording on October 1st proved their employee Mark did say the insurance was active. Instead of paying for the 2 medical claims they refused to take responsibility for the cost. It is horrible that a multi billion dollar company will not pay the claim for 2 children's doctors appointments when they provided incorrect information that made me think the children were insured. Had I known that they didn't have insurance I would have rescheduled the appointments. Aetna is legally responsible for providing incorrect information and they need to pay the claims."
"I’ve been calling since November about a $2,000 claim against me. Every time I call I am transferred 5 times, put on hold, and asked to call back in two weeks to see if “more information is available” about my claim. I have not once received a call back - I’ve had to call every time. It is now February and the collections agency is after me and I cannot get my insurance to even explain what is going on with my case. Worst insurance I’ve ever dealt with."
