"I bought insurance through this firm for a National Geographic Expeditions trip. I had to postpone the trip several times. First, there were Covid restrictions on any travel outside the US, then there were Covid issues within the destination country, and finally there was civil unrest inside the country leading to US State Department warnings. NatGeo readily allowed postponements, and did not penalize me in any way. I am now booked for the same trip next year and my deposit has been credited accordingly. However, USI Travel Insurance will not carry over my policy, for which I paid nearly $1500, claiming it exceeds the time limit to do so. In effect, they kept my policy premium for a trip that I never took. It isn't like I canceled my trip and filed a claim -- I'm still booked for the trip, just at a different time. They could presumably charge a supplement to cover additional potential costs for the policy coverage, but they aren't offering to do that either. They are just flatly keeping my money with no recourse but to file a claim for it....whatever good that might do. I'm pretty disgusted. If the tour operator is willing to allow this, I don't see why their recommended insurance company won't do the same."
