Reviews of Oyster Oyster
"I mean...I'm pretty sure the James Beard Outstanding Chef winner doesn't need my review, but still I feel like I should let everyone know what a unique dining experience it was. Every course was delicious and different and exciting. If you've been to lots of fine dining, you know the feeling of having seen things before and not being surprised and delighted anymore. I feel like every course at oyster oyster surprised and delighted me. I loved hearing the story of my food, but most importantly the food tasted amazing, every course tasted so delicious. I got the wine pairing and my husband got the zero proof pairing, they were both well worth it, and exceptional. I loved hearing about the wineries, the zero proof was not just some weird over steeped tea concoction trying to mimic the burn of alcohol, instead it was a well thought out nuanced menu where each drink was more amazing than the next. If you have to choose I'd choose the zero-proof because the creativity is awesome! That being said, I got to try some wine varietals I had read about but never tasted, the wine pairing was educational and delicious in the best way. At first I was not wowed by the atmosphere, but as our meal progressed I realized my seat was so comfortable, every table has a view of the kitchen, and the warm and welcoming servers provided a lovely feeling of comfort. I honestly feel like I stumbled into some elven kitchen in the woods, and was fed a beautiful feast of things I had never thought of eating or drinking before..I wouldn't even be able to describe it correctly to my fellow mortals. All I know is I left oyster oyster having experienced something new in fine dining, feeling comfortably full and mildly buzzed, and happy that I had braved the dumpster fire of DC traffic for such a lovely experience. Bottom line, you should go, rest your weary laurels on the comfy chairs, and let the forest elves show you the time of your life!"
"The hype is real! Tbh I was hesitant about a vegan/vegetarian tasting menu (would I like it, would I get enough to eat, etc) but I was blown away. From the welcome broth (so beefy somehow??) to the julienned vegetable “pasta”, everything was so gorgeous. Amazing concentration and depth of flavors, and such interesting and genuine presentation by the staff. This could have easily veered into a pretentious or snooty menu but it was just really honest and thoughtful and delicious. Loved it."
"I'm undoubtedly biased as this wonderful restaurant is one of my dear friend's spots. Nevertheless, I believe the reviews the awards and accolades speak for themselves. So, I'll simply say that I love it, I treasure it, I'm grateful for it, and here come the pictures..."
"Awesome dining experience! Came here for a birthday party and loved the simple yet bright, stylish interior, the prompt and friendly service, the overall concept, and the uniquely delicious food. Definitely recommend for foodies seeking a special occasion dining experience. The only thing I would change is adding a cool cocktail menu — they only serve wine and spirit free “cocktails”."
"An awesome 1 Michelin star restaurant. Booked about 2 months ahead of time with plenty of availability even during the peak of Memorial Day weekend. A very cozy restaurant with a beautiful seating area and lots of mushroom themed pieces throughout. Was seated very quickly during our reservation slot. The food started arriving soon after with impeccable service with each dish and a thorough explanation. The staff were super helpful at taking a few group pictures. Every dish was delicious but some of the most memorable include the carrot bread and marigold "butter" which was magical. The roasted lions mane mushroom tasted like steak and the brown Hmong rice was a perfect side dish pairing. The turnip salad with an oyster was a great way to start the meal as well. Overall no complaints, parking is not too difficult to come by with street parking nearby. There is a also a parking garage that can validate 2-hour parking if you buy something at the Giants market across the street."
