"I'm a member of Columbia Road Health Services, where my assigned doctor works and so it is my primary healthcare clinic. [Primary health care - noun: healthcare at a basic rather than specialized level for people making an initial approach to a doctor or nurse for treatment.] I was feeling sick with moderate flu-like symptoms and wanted to find out what it was (Was it flue? Covid? Something else?) and get treatment, so I called them for a visit. They told me I couldn't come in for testing, yet offered no explanation. They said I would have to go elsewhere adding that if I wait about five hours, they'd contact me toward the end of the day for a "telehealth" phone call, to suggest where I might go instead. But I wanted testing to find out what it was and possibly some meds - not a mere telehealth call to deflect me. As my assigned clinic was unwilling to help me, I decided to go to a Medstar care center. The care center tested me for several different things such as flu, strep and Covid-19 and I got the results all in just over an hour. As it turns out, I had Covid-19. They prescribed Paxlovid, and emailed the nearby pharmacy for me to pick up later. They did everything right. In contrast, now I'm not even allowed to go to my own assigned clinic when I'm sick? (That seems to be the message.) Instead, they're off-loading their responsibilities onto others. Columbia Road Health Services eventually called me later that day and seemed pleased when I told them I had to seek help elsewhere. However, they didn't offer any apology. After a couple of minutes, I just hung up without finishing the useless call. Is it right when your own assigned primary health care clinic is unable/unwilling to help you, and directs you to go elsewhere for your health care needs? (recall, I was told in advance they wouldn't test me.) But what is the use of my health care company requiring me to be assigned to a primary care clinic when the clinic refuses primary care? Am I to give up on my clinic altogether? I'm now wondering where I'm to go when I need basic health care services, especially if I'm not feeling well. Am I expected to just go elsewhere?"
"Absolutely 1 of the worst Healthcare facility in Washington DC. These people at this location should either be closed down or at the very least investigated. I guessing that the people who work there do not have to give you the same amount of care and service that a Veterinarian would give a dog because it's a low income facility. I can't even get anyone to answer the phones (and I know every extension) just ti make an appointment with my so call Primary care doctor Carrie Beall. I even at one point complain to Ms.Beall about the service and she told me I could always go somewhere else instead of them doing a better job at the facility. When I go to a in clinic visit, the Receptionist are either talking about lunch or something not work related. Im trying to figure out why I have call 10 times in a day to just speak to someone and get an appointment. I've talked to the director Ms Richardson over the pass 5 or 6 years over and over about these problems and she has done nothing in all this time to fix anything, she basically doesn't have a clue because all I get is excuse after excuse with no change. I will say Ms Beall has gotten a little better but it seems her basically just going through the motions to get me off the phone. Someone has to so something about this place. I write these reviews because absolutely no one should have to put up with this bad service especially when it concerns thier health. I can go on and on about this place. Please someone do something"
"I’ve just had my second appointment here and I love the place. My doctor is super kind and asks questions to really try to get to know me and my life to fully understand the type of care I might need. Big fan of hers. And to the people complaining about the receptionists and phone lines. Maybe it’s not perfect, but I think they do quite a fine job considering how many people they’re working to serve. The clinic takes people with any kind of insurance and the paperwork involved with that must be tremendous so hats off to them for putting in the work to serve the community to their fullest extent."
"Strongly recommend that you avoid this place. I was on hold for 45 min, then used the "call back" feature and got a call from reception 2 hours later. Booked an appointment for week later. Got 5 different emails about setting up and checking in, did them all. Got a VM the day before that I needed to check-in (already had) and when I called back, I got back in the 45 minute hold pattern. Finally talked to someone, checked-in again. THEN, got a text that I needed to check in the morning of - did it again. THEN, finally the day of the appointment, the doctor never called. I called the help line again, did the whole on-hold-call-back routine again, an hour later got a call and was told that the doctor is not licensed in Maryland so she just didn't call me. HOW IS THIS THEIR SYSTEM!? I'm in the middle of a health situation and just wasted 5 days going through this and now have to start over,...."
