"The front desk ladies and my pre-op nurse was nice and did a hood job educating. I was NOT happy with the post-op nurse I had. I felt like I was being rushed out and she was rude to my husband. I arrived at 10:15, was taken into OR at 11, and came out at 12, and she was already telling my husband to come get me at 12:15, despite how much pain I was in, and the fact that I was barely awake. I couldn’t even keep my eyes open or talk, and she was putting ny clothes on. When she called my my husband she had an attitude and she said, how long is it going to be until you can be here?” I overheard her telling another nurse “what are we going to do we have another case at 1.” I work in a hospital, and I am often in the PACU, so I work with patients recovering from surgery, and I have NEVER seen a patient be rushed out that quickly. Usually patients are in recovery for about an hour and then go to a short stay area for another hour before discharge. They probably need to have a few more stretchers for patients recovering. My husband and mom were both uncomfortable too with they way they were treated and rushed to get me out. I came out of surgery at 12, and she was wheeling me out to the car at 12:35. I have had 3 other similar surgeries and for two of them I stayed the night in the hospital, the other I was in a surgical center for 4 hours."
"I don’t like writing negative reviews but I feel it is important to share my experience. As someone who works in the medical field there is a certain level of patient care that should be maintained. I had wrist and forearm surgery last week. The front desk staff (I think her name was Gina) was extremely kind and put me at ease when I arrived. She explained everything well. Overall the first few nurses I had were kind but I will say that it took multiple attempts at an IV which were VERY painful. Each time it felt like a fishhook digging into me. They brought me an ice pack since I was very lightheaded and nauseous from the discomfort/pain of the IVs. My hand, back of forearm, and front of forearm are all bruised and sore from the failed IV attempts. (The last IV was placed after I was put under). Now the anesthesiologist… first of all, I overheard the nurses looking for her and that apparently she was still sitting in her car waiting for the last minute to clock in. When she did show up, she explained nothing to me. Before I know it she says “okay, here is the ‘I don’t care’ medicine”. She puts it in my IV. I still felt everything (probably due to the failed IV and it didn’t adequately enter my system). I am rolled into the OR completely awake and aware of what is going on until I have the nasal cannula put on me. Upon waking up from surgery I was in excruciating pain and started sobbing. The nurse asked me what’s wrong. I said I am in severe pain and pointed to where it hurts. She said “a lot of people cry after waking up from anesthesia”. I told her I understand that but it hurts very bad. She told me it shouldn’t hurt because I had a nerve block. Again, I told her I was in severe pain and showed her where I was hurting. (Mind you, they sawed my in ulna in half, removed part of it, and drilled multiple screws in a few different bones). She said “well then move your fingers”. I easily moved all of my fingers. Which if you’re familiar with nerve blocks, that shouldn’t be possible for up to several hours later. Finally, she talked to the anesthesiologist and they gave me Valium because I was “just being emotional” according to the nurse. It was as if I need to convince her that I was in pain and like she is trying to argue with me that I am NOT in pain. Absolutely NO compassion whatsoever. At this point mom comes in and asks why they gave me Valium and not managing the pain I’m reporting. She said when she saw me I was white as a ghost, sobbing, and clenching my teeth because of how bad it hurts. They finally gave me IV fentanyl and hydrocodone and I still felt the pain just to give you an idea of how severe it was. The nurse also “lost” the hydrocodone pill and couldn’t remember if she gave it to me or not. It was placed in my folder on accident and then she gave it to me when she found it. And my mom had to ask what she was giving me each time. The nurse didn’t tell her the name of the medication unless she asked. Later I realize that the nerve block the anesthesiologist performed was administered to MY SHOULDER and did not even affect my forearm and wrist. So for the next day and a half I have a dead shoulder that I can’t move and I feel everything in the actual area of the surgery. I am doing much better currently but to be quite honest, this experience was traumatizing."
"I love the anesthesiologist Christine! I was so scared before my surgery and when she came to talk to me she calmed me down and talked to me as if I were her own family. She even said “I’m going to be treating you like my own daughter!” I felt so relieved going in before being put under and I don’t remember anything after she put the oxygen mask on me! After I woke up, I apparently was aggressively crying (of course I still don’t remember this) but my father who brought me there said she was by my side the whole time! When I got home we noticed blood vessels in my eyes busted so when we called and left a message for the doctor, CHRISTINE called right away and gave him her cell phone for any issues I might have. You will be in such great hands and so lucky if you do end up with Christine as your anesthesiologist "
