"Such a cute place! It's right above Josephine's. Reservations are def recommended. The food was delicious and the servers were knowledgeable, attentive, and very nice! The beef bourguignon was so tender it practically melted in your mouth. The ratatouille was seasoned very well and the red sauce had the smallest amount of kick in it. Seafood croquettes very super yummy as well!"
"Food: Caesar salad app was the highlight of the meal. We shared a full size salad it was very nice with white anchovies. My wife got the tomato bisque and I got the French onion (because they were out of the seafood croquettes). Both soups were under seasoned and there is not even salt on the table. French onion was thickened, very odd, and also underseasoned. I've never had French onion where I wanted to add salt. Both soups were topped with cheese, both soups were drastically over done under the broiler or salamander, the cheese was dark brown, crunchy, there was allmost none that was melted and soft. There was no bread served. My wife got the beef burgundy which was rather bland and relied heavily on mushrooms. The beef was tender and flavorful, but bland. I got the scallops St JACQUES... only 3 medium scallops drowning in a bland cream with several types of mushrooms. The scallops were nicely done, and the mushrooms were tasty, but nothing pulled the dish together. It was served with very crisp green beans that were cold and tiny, very hot, white and purple potatoes that appeared and tasted unseasoned... again, no salt on the table. The creme Brule and chocolate decadence were both very good. The atmosphere rating is low because it is extremely loud. We were there for our anniversary, but gave up talking. Service was very slow as our waiter was also the bartender. He was doing the best he could, but there were a lot of people making demands of him. The bill was $180 with tip. No alcohol, only water, no coffee. What we got was certainly not worth that much money. A number of rookie mistakes were made, and for what you got, the prices were pretentious. I will probably not return."
"The food was delicious. Went here for my wife's birthday and was a great place. My fries and sandwich were cooked perfectly. Great drinks as well. We'll definitely go again."
"Server was very friendly, cocktails were tasty and came out quick. Most of the food was good. However, I would advise against getting the steak. It was only seared on one side, and looked closer to medium well instead of medium rare. Wasn’t worth the $53 price."
"A tremendous achievement in culinary execution. Perhaps the pinnacle of modern gastronomy. Please for the love of god make a reservation. Seats here go quick. If you walk in without a reservation, the hostess will look at you funny. You will get a "does not compute" facial expression. Like, "Hey man, you really though you could just walk in and get a table? Haha, you're no Leo." That's right, when Leo is visiting Amish country, he always makes a note to eat the flounder sandwich at C'est La Vie. The full name adds "Bistro" to the end, but when you're this good, you can drop the excessive naming schemes. Everyone knows it simply as C'est La Vie, or in some circles, simply "La Vie." Like "Hey guys, anyone wanna hit up La Vie this weekend? I hear they make a mean coquille Saint Jacques." Now, being in a lower tier socio-economic bracket, such coquilles are strictly off limits less I want to miss a car payment on my '17 Sonata. But let me tell you - she's almost paid off, and when she is, I'll make it rain coquilles in my mouth. Simply put, La Vie is a triumph - a high class eatery where you can wine and dine all of your top clients. They will be very impressed and trust me when I say you'll be getting a Christmas card. That's right, you bring someone here, you make their greeting card list. It leaves that much of an impression. This is prime time downtown Lancaster, so parking is going to be a vicious cockfight. But if you can muscle your way into one of the spots at any of the adjacent streets or hourly lots, to the victor go the spoils. Such is life!"
