"I brought my desktop to them to replace a bad motherboard. I had tested the power supply before bringing it to them, which is how I knew it was most likely the motherboard. When they replaced it they said the power supply was bad. I asked how that was possible when i tested before hand. They proceeded to tell me it would be 80$ for a power diagnostic and then I assume they would have charged more plus parts to put in a new one. I declined because at that point I didn’t trust them and that was expensive for just a diagnostic of the power. I took my pc home and performed the same paperclip test on the power supply that I did before (if you know about computers you know what this does) and the fans indeed did not power as it did before. So that means when I took my power supply to them it was working and when I brought it home it was not. I called to get an explanation and they said they don’t know. To me, this feels deliberate as a way to get more money from me because they did not know I would be smart enough to figure it out myself. I don’t know what was done to it, but something was done. Lesson learned. I will now be buying a new power supply and putting it in myself, but I would not go back and would not recommend. If you take something to them for one problem, and they find another they need to charge you for, you’ve been warned. They also put in my graphics card and cover slots rushed and wrong, I had to fix that myself as well because it was covering my display port and unnecessarily left an opening. Picture below.
