"I have been seeing Valeria about four months for EMDR therapy. I have been to many therapists over the years for CBT and realized I needed something different, aimed more at my emotions and experiences than my thoughts. Valeria is one of the most professional, conscientious, and engaged therapists I’ve had. She makes sure each session is structured and does not let sessions go where they will, which I have experienced with many therapists. When she asks questions, she remembers the answers and uses them to determine how to proceed. She gives homework and then follows up on it. She puts a great deal of effort into thinking about what occurs during sessions, and makes connections between insights and experiences over many sessions. With regard to EMDR, it is hard to draw definitive conclusions about whether it is working because the effect is subtle, but I am convinced my EMDR sessions are having a positive effect on my CPTSD symptoms, both because of how I experience the EMDR sessions as they occur, and because of the changes in my experience in situations that have been problematic for me in the past. Those changes are very pronounced and I believe it is because of the EMDR process led by Valeria."
