Reviews of Infinite Bluebirds Counseling
"Don Webb is an amazing Counselor. When my son Monty visited from Texas with wife during COVID we asked Don to counsel father-son sessions for several months. In his quiet empathic but insistent way he allowed Monty and me to look at our relationship from distant past to present. We were often able to access the positive feelings we genuinely have for each other but don't always share-- and that was what we both needed, just simply centering on the love for each other. That foundational love confirmed is with us every day and we are in more constant contact with each other than ever-- usually once or twice a week. Whether to affirm and deepen a positive relationship like in the case of Monty and me, or to address more critical relationship issues, Don is the counselor to turn to. Period! Please contact him! You will not be disappointed!"
"Don's work in classroom education, alternative education, and family counseling has given him lifetimes of experience in progressive pedagogy and psychology. He has helped me through some of the toughest times in my life - not by providing advice, or by focusing on managing stress and symptoms, but because he knows how to listen and ask the right questions, allowing me to work out what I need and get to the root of what I need to do to make a change. One of my favorite ways he works is through stories... almost in passing, he has told me stories that I didn't fully understand at the time, but which have continued to reverberate more deeply for me in the decade since. His deep belief in the unique value of every person and his curiosity about how we all change through life are wildly out of step (in in the best possible way) with current obsessions about self-presentation, maximizing our productivity, and instrumentally valuing our relationships. My experiences with him continue to help me to see that there is another way to live and grow."
"Don is one of the most special and skillful guides and mentors I have ever known. In 2020 and 2021 my partner and I went to Don for counseling because we were having a hard time communicating and understanding each other's experiences and point of view. Using simple practices, Don helped us to steadily gain listening skills and empathy for one another. Our family is much stronger for it. I highly recommend Don- a mentor with decades of experience working with people of all ages, a therapist with a big, tried-and-true bag of tricks to draw from, a guide focused on bringing you back to the simplest yet most important things in your life."
"Don has been a lifelong friend and mentor to me so when my family was struggling with the pressures of the pandemic last year, we called him for help. I was seeking some relief from fear and to sooth our 5 year old who was experiencing a lot of anxiety and anger during lockdown. I was so delighted to be able to have zoom and then in-person sessions for me, my spouse, and my 5 year old. We met both together and separately as we needed in the moment. Our sessions were focused on our family relationships and coping with the stress of isolation, a new baby, our child's and our own anxieties. Don generously lent us his sand tray materials so we could explore and create our little worlds, sharing with each other our inner landscapes made real with figurines, doll house furniture, gems, bits, and bobbles. It was a wonderful medium for both me and my kiddo, especially. We found easy and tender expression with in our sand tray worlds for things that had been hard to say aloud in words. I treasure the photos we took of these ephemeral spaces we made. Don is patient and gentle, happy to meet our needs in the moment and unfazed by the myriad upsets, interruptions, tantrums, break needed, etc. that meeting with a family with a baby and stressed out kid and parents entailed. In one sweet moment Don invited my spouse and I to hug each other- which we honestly had not done is a long time, and it was so nice to be encouraged to support each other and remind each other that we are here, full of love. Our season of sessions together let us open the gates of conversation and memory, and helped us begin to share what we each needed from each other. If your family is looking for a gentle, creative environment to share, reconnect, and heal, I would highly recommend building a little sand tray world with Don."
"I've known Don Webb most of my life. I was a camper when Nature Camp was at Happy Hollow, and I attended and later worked there as a young adult. Don and I have kept in touch as I moved on to get my Masters and later PhD in Marine Geology and I currently teach High School. Don mentored me in starting my own Outdoor Program in Austin, TX. I know Don to be perhaps the most kind person and best listener that I have ever met. Don is about the most open minded person you'll ever meet, and yet has a quiet resolve when the time is right. He is the single most valued mentor I have in my life. He is a teacher, a naturalist, but mostly a lover of the peculiar beauty of humanity. I've turned to him for advice time and again in my life, and his words have never failed. But: I think I know Don's secret. It's the alchemy of asking the right questions, often the questions that others don't take the time to even notice, but the obvious and the most pithy ones."
