Reviews of The Chestnut
"A tremendous experience. Speaking as a parent, you would be hard pressed to find a better, safer, more efficient and well-run apartment house. From top to bottom the apartment house sparkles. The staff, Alexis, Brianna and everyone else are so hospitable and available for questions and issues and the apartments themselves are just perfect. You simply can't do better than the Chestnut."
"Overall fantastic community! From the moment you walk in The Chestnut, you instantly feel apart of the community. The building is beautiful and has many amenities. The Chestnut truly is a great place to live in Philadelphia!"
"TLDR: Rude and unprofessional customer service from the leasing and concierge team The leasing team is condescending and inefficient. It took 3 weeks for them to complete a lease transfer, both my sublessee and I had to hound them through emails and calls to get it done. All agents deferred responsibility to each other and were dismissive when issues came up throughout my 2-year lease. The lead concierge is lovely, but on two occasions I’ve been reprimanded and YELLED at by a concierge member for requesting to pick up a small package. A friend heard the concierge from across the lobby and had to intervene for him to stop yelling at me. Several neighbors have shared similar experiences. Additionally, the transition to Fetch has resulted in packages being delayed, piling up in the hallways, and delivery staff rushing around and ramming the trolleys in the elevators. It’s a convenient location but living here is a headache for how terrible the management is."
"Awful living experience. The building looks great from the outside and the lobby and common spaces also look great, but there are some major problems: 1. Lots of noises from neighbors around/upstairs. Especially if some residents don’t abide by the quiet hour policy or are just being disrespectful. Though the management has helped a lot with addressing the noise issues, the terrible sound insulation of the building makes the noise problem even worse. For some reason, the shared wall between my unit and my neighbor’s is not fully closed, leaving a very narrow gap from the floor to the ceiling that’s completely hollow and open on both ends. I didn't notice there was a gap in the wall until my neighbors moved in, that their conversations and other daily activities almost felt like was coming from another room in the same unit I lived in. Can even hear their alarm in the morning. As far as I know, some other tenants also had this problem in their units. Depending on your noise tolerance and your neighbor’s activities, it could mean from a minor annoyance to a huge suffering. The smell from the neighboring unit also permeates through the wall because of the gap. Not sure what goods does it bring to tenants by building the wall like this. 2. Management is generally ok and had been helpful with several issues I had, but some rules made are nonsense. No food delivery was allowed for the residents when I moved in 2020. Not allowed to throw away card boxes in the trash room. Had to break it down and bring it to the loading dock yourself, otherwise, you get fined. 3. Some members of the maintenance team lack professionalism. 4. Cheap quality furniture. Things start to break down after just one year of use."
"Expensive but very nice and lovely apartment which has a great facilities. Perfect for Upenn students and faculty ( about 5 minutes by walk)."
