"Many of my neighbors and I have complaints about the lack of maintenance available and there are no maintenance worker on the weekend to support any of our issues. We must call an emergency service if something occurs on the weekend and the tenant is then responsible for the charges. My elderly neighbors recently had an issue with their thermostat over the weekend where the heat was not working properly and the landlord sent the bill to the tenant because it was an external service (due to it being a weekend). Should an elderly person sit in the cold over the weekend to avoid an added cost that should be the onus of the landlord? Many people live in apartments like these because of the maintenance services provided that they cannot otherwise attend to themselves yet it seems this landlord and his properties take advantage of those less fortunate. The landowner has threatened on numerous occasions to evict people because of the weekend fees that the landlord does not want to pay and therefore holds the tenants responsible."
