"I have contacted my leasing office during the first week I moved in with regards to maintenance. They sent someone over and he fixed my toilet seat but told me the mold in my cabinets was not an issue. He rubbed his bare hands on the spot and rolled up a piece of the mold between his fingers. He then proceeded to flick the mold into my sink and said to use bleach on the spot. I have been in my place for about a month now and the mold has not gone away despite treating the afflicted areas with a diluted bleach mixture. In fact, we have a corner on my ceiling that continues to discolor and get worse black spotting. I regularly hear water sounds as if it’s leaking right into the area of my cabinet. I have called for maintenance another time but have yet to see someone. My cabinets smell like mold as well, and I have not been able to use them since the time I moved in. There are random spots of water damage seen throughout my apartment. The list does not stop as I also can’t close any doors due to the various layers of paint that have been painted over them. Edit: They have since then fixed the issue and have given much more timely responses. The leasing office receptionist is always extremely sweet and always a pleasure to talk with."
"I really do not think the care about your health at all. For weeks, there has been very strong paint smell in the hall, also goes inside to each apt, you have to keep the window open all the time. That smell made me feel sick for quite a while. Just as you thought the smell get weaker, they re-paint again. Ironically, the paint just change the outlook, the inside is still that too old building with so many unsolved problems, even their own staff said so."
"During the COVID-19, the office offered flexibility with rent payment, and discontinue of the lease, which is more humanity than other leasing offices/companies in the UC community. The location is convenient and safe in the UC, though no longer a key factor during the pandemic. When we moved in, the bathroom and kitchen were in pretty terrible condition, we had to hire cleaning team to clean and disinfect the place before moved in. For contact regarding maintenance, nearly more than 20% times of contact without response. We specified staff not enter into our apartment without tenants' presence, even with a note on the door, they still enter without noticing us, which is especially annoying. Clearly, the office failed to maintain good communication with maintenance and notify tenant about estimated visit time beforehand. The building is really not in good condition for living: pantry pests, cockroaches all the time, and rats problem as well. The most annoying/horrible/awkward experience when living there was the SUPER POOR sound proof in the building, which was much worse than other buildings we had lived in UC. Everyday the tenant above us provided live version of their daily life: their fight, frequent argument; battle video game they played which gave us hallucinations after they played for 6+ hours; TV they watched till midnight which made us feel we owed them TV fee during our move out; their morning 5 am movement lasted for at least hour, with the shaking ceiling woke us from sleep every time. It is extremely hard to have a good sleep there, and no use after times of communication. We had to hear every detail passively in every room, and ear plugs aint helping. Might also be our bad luck to have a noisy neighbor. While the office definitely has the responsibility to notify the tenant not to disturb others before they move in, at least not that frequent during regular sleep time!! If you are looking for a quiet neighborhood, this is definitely not the option."
"The upper management team needs to track what the office workers are doing all day and what time is spent completing tasks. I am a new resident, and everything I have needed I have had to ask more than once. I have at least 2 email sent days ago that are unanswered (including one phone call). I would say monitoring emails from residents should be a priority... I would like someone from the management team to contact me regarding this issue."
"They're okay. We have had to berate them in the past to come fix stuff, they are quick to respond to pest control but general maintenance they don't answer to . The apartment I live in is decent in terms of amenities, definitely not the newest but they work just fine. I live on Spruce, not too far from Penn's campus so the price is good for the area. So overall not the best place I've lived in but definitely not the worst."
