The Square Apartments

"We missed out on a unit because the staff are inattentive, unresponsive, and uncaring. We called and emailed multiple times before getting any sort of response, which is extremely unprofessional. Moving forward, we were told to apply sight-unseen, which is ludicrous. By the time someone answered -- several weeks later -- the unit we wanted was signed. Given the other reviews, it looks like we may have dodged a bullet. Avoid!"

"The management and the leasing office are not available to address issues, period. The main number contacts you directly to off-site phone answering service, and there is no person on site or in the office to help you in real time. I left 3 messages in 3 weeks for assistance. The garage door is still wide open and remains broken for a month. This property and the Square do not deserve the price point."

"We have been at The Square for three years. It is a great location. However, the quality of customer service has declined during that period. A few issues you should be aware of before signing a lease. 1. The front door to the building is often not secure. For some reason, the property manager cannot seem to fix the locks on the front door. So, anyone can walk in off the street. Just today I noticed that the lock on the front door is broken. 2. There is no on site maintenance for the building. For our first two years here there was a full-time maintenance person on site. The service was excellent and the individual really took pride in his work and got to know the tenants. About a year ago management decided to make that position part time and the general condition of the building reflects a lack of full-time maintenance. The place is not very clean and there doesn’t seem to be a regular cleaning schedule. 3. The package concierge system is often broken. 4. There are leaks in the building in any heavy rainstorm. During our time here we’ve had leaks at the window and in the ceiling in our apartments There have also been leaks in the hallways and stairwells. 5. Building does not appear to be very well made and it is starting to get some wear and tear. We have been here almost since they started leasing and there has been no touch up work that I can tell in any of the common areas during that time. There is a general lack of attention to detail by the property manager. As an example the light fixture in the building lobby has been damaged for at least six months and there has been no attempt to repair it. 6. The walls, ceilings, floors are thin and the noise level can be high. Given the rental rates for the building the absence of regular maintenance is noticeable. If you like Ardmore I suggest you check all of the new stock of apartments at a similar price point along with The Square before making a decision."

"My sister and I looked at these apartments to rent & decided against it, mainly because the leasing agent was so rude and disrespectful to us. We expressed interest in the lower priced units ($2400 vs. $2700,) as we saw on their website & she told us that the lower rate was a "special" that only ran yesterday (10/2). I find that odd that a new apartment building would have a "special" and only run it on the 2nd of a month, on a Monday. While my sister viewed The Square, the leasing agent didn't even offer to show her any of the common spaces or amenities and acted as though we were wasting her time. Also, the leasing agent gave us the wrong amount for another "special" they were running. (We figured it out afterwards.) In the end, the entire tour and communication was very uncomfortable and we felt we were being "screened" for being young and assumed as not having enough income for these apartments. I don't think a leasing agent has the right to make assumptions on what we can afford, especially without any proper documentation this early in an apartment search. (We are fully aware of the credit & income verification needed once you go into a lease.) After reading the other reviews of The Square, looks like we dodged a bullet anyways!"

"The location is fabulous, the bathrooms are wonderful, the fitness center is pretty good, and the roofed garage is a nice plus. The apartment itself is nice and has a lot of potential, living here is not worth the luxury price tag though. Frequently the package concierge system would have packages that weren't even for my unit. Appliances break down pretty frequently. Maintenance requests had to be made through another apartment complex and would take to long be fulfilled (5 months for a light bulb to be replaced). I'm pretty sure nothing would have be repaired if I didn't the other apartment complex and ask for updates. No one is ever in the leasing department, so if i have questions i have to call a different apartment complex. It appeared that the additional items that were advertised to us when we were deciding where to move to never became available. Or at least i didn't feel like calling the other apartment to ask for updates, since it wasn't necessary"
