"This place is a danger after living here for 2 years. Im upset to hear that there is continuously so much violence here. There was a shooting and stabbing Sunday Morning October 29. I can’t pretend like I'm surprised, as this place has shown for years that they do not have adequate and trained security staff on sight for circumstances caused by outside guests, that put residents in danger. It’s not until police are called that matters get handled, and you pray it’s not too late. If you care for your own wellbeing I recommend you do not stay here. If you are a parent, please read the honest and low reviews before reading the marketed and forced ones by residents they chose. It’s known by locals to have gang violence and is to be avoided at all costs."
"Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt this an example of day light robbery? After staying for only 3 months, my daughter had to withdraw from school hence the commons, due to serious health reasons. I wrote emails and made several calls to the Commons management in the hope that they would be humane and understand my predicament and somehow work with me on the reminder of the lease. But no. They charged me the entire lease period(7 more months) and ontop of all that, I still had to pay the $645 utility fee for the 2nd semester knowing full well that my daughter wasn't coming back! Adding insult to injury, they kept the $500 security deposit and even charged us a little ontop of that for "repairs" that obviously my daughter had nothing to do with. The day we packed her up and left, I thoroughly cleaned her space and looked around and after only 3 months, the apartment was still intact. I even took pictures and told the commons managers that I'd taken pictures as proof. I understand it's purely a business, there only to make a profit and somewhat deliver services....but where's the compassion? Aren't you parents yourselves and is this how you'd want to be treated if one of your children had to withdraw from school under these circimstances? These are very hard times and I only hope that the Commons management deal more humanely with people who have genuine reasons of requesting a break in the lease. It's been a very painful experience I'll not soon forget."
"The place is falsely advertised. The Wi-Fi is inconsistent. The place is littered with broken glass and the garbage is constantly overflowing attracting bears and Raccoons. Overall the place is just misleading. I wouldn’t recommend sending any child here. Cops have been called on multiple occasions to shut down parties witch feature a great degree of illegal substances and an almost ironic lack of responsibility taken to improve the place year on year. Ask any local of Dunmore or indeed Scranton what they think of the commons and it’s reputation and they’ll be sure to educate you as to the infamous reputation the place carries in the community."
"I had my daughter stay here last year. The rooms are ok. However it appears that from my daughter's experience and her speaking to other students, they WILL find ways not to give you your deposit back. Small damage repairs will be inflated and the itemized bill you receive will be as vague as possible making it difficult to question any charge. Stay here if you can't find a suitable place to give your hard earned money to as one thing is certain: They have no intention of returning your deposit and it seems more likely that they'll look for "damages" to charge you more."
"The commons is a great place for college living. It's super close to a bunch of campuses and in a overall great area. Aubrey - the manager is great is super helpful. The other people that live there are super friendly and nice. There are tons of activities for holidays to get people together. Definitely recommend."
