"Hello, I want to write a few things here. It bothered me a lot. I hope I don't want anyone else to go through the same thing. I always used to pay in cash. Towards the end of this evening, I ran out of money and I made a purchase from my credit card. I wanted a whiskey and cola mix and he charged me $370 for a glass. We talked to him. I'm not drunk, I asked him why did you withdraw such money, he said, "You made a bet" and that's ridiculous, I'm not rich enough to bet $365 on a $5 drink glass, I hope no one else experiences the same thing, warn your waiters, they are stealing."
"So, I've lived in this building for 3 years, and as I'm about to move out, I figured I'd leave a review First, a mild response to some of the negative reviews, which mention noise, power outages, and the elevator breaking down: these do happen. But, I don't feel its too fair to lay them at the feet of the building. They are more the byproduct of the area it exists in This building is on the border of uptown and downtown, on a major city street. Noise will happen, and its hard to block out. The walls could stand to be a little thicker, I won't disagree there though. Once tried to have a get together with friends, and got noise complaints. I'd say if you want to do something similar, stick to a group of about 5. Similarly, the power outages are a byproduct of the grid we find ourselves on. If any would walk outside the building while power is out, they'd find much of the area is having similar issues. Lately, they have been solved within an hour or two. Similarly, the elevator breaking down, usually gets solved within the day, but yes, there is one elevator, and it does routinely break down. That I don't really have a defense for. Overall, I had an alright time in this building. Every few months or so, it has social events, but as a single guy in his college years I never felt much of a pull to go to them. Still, they are properly catered and even serve alcohol, which is something. It even has a gym, though I wouldn't call it terribly robust, its a small room with weights, a treadmill, an elliptical, and some yoga stuff in the corner. If you work at the local hospital, or go to Duquesne University, I'd say its probably the perfect place for you, being within walking distance. And most new buildings will charge a bit more than what Flats on 5th is asking for. At the end of the day, I'm not terribly sad about leaving, I don't feel a particular attachment to this building or its management. Its just a place, it didn't treat me too terribly, and I had some good times here."
"Apartments look good, but are very poorly built. Between the pot smoke overwhelming the hallways, and ceiling noise (unless you are on the top floor) it sounds like you have elephants overhead. When I moved here there were college students moving out complaining, "the loudest f-ing apartment -- ever!!" Generally residents are very nice, but the building is very cheap, and despite the comments about a "luxury" apartment, it is not. I have never seen an HVAC system like they have in these apartments. If I set the thermostat to 70 degrees, the bedroom temp would be about 65, and you have to inspect where the HVAC blow air. I had one that actually raised the outdoor temp 10-15 degrees on my balcony -- in summer! So when it's 90 degrees outside, my balcony ranged from 100 to 105. I actually had to pay money to move my apartment! Also, this apartment is super loud, even through double-paned glass. 5th Avenue is like a freeway, and many of the vehicles are large semis. Also note that there is soon going to be a LOT of construction coming. There are 2 parking lots that are for sale, and the falling down structure across the street is also for sale. Don't expect any quiet in the near future. Also note that the Property Management is nice, but never follows through on anything. Loud neighbors, pot smokers, they actually do zero to resolve any issues. Also be advised that the elevator and other items seem to break a lot. The building looks nice, but you really do not get many who extend beyond one rental period, and they are talking about raising the rent a lot.... Reply to owner: Yes I'm still here because it's expensive to move, and I feel stuck. If you were the owner, you would know that the noise from apartments above is a huge problem. Fights have almost broken out. You should survey the tenants, not just add that I've been extending. I've already paid about $600 to move between units due to the AC Unit heating up the outdoor deck 10 degrees. You should also check with your property management to note that no one has ever made comments to upstairs tenants about noise. My current upstairs neighbors come home at 3:00 am, so I am hearing sex and loud footsteps. We were told that management would put carpeting on units that were making noise. Ever been done? No. Look at the tenants leaving and their comments. These are professionals too. On was a doctor and his PA wife. People suffer through here, and when they can't take it anymore, they leave. Do your job and quit posting BS replies. Also, our elevator breaks about 10 times a year. Sometimes for 1/2 day, most recently for 3 days. Talk to the tenants on the 7th floor who have to walk up floors."
"I have lived here since I moved to Pittsburgh in May. I absolutely love it. I work downtown and it is quite easy to get there within 7 or 8 minutes. My car is parked in a gated secure garage and the building itself is secure requiring a key fob to access the building and elevator. I read some reviews about noise with doors and such and I don't find it to be an issue whatsoever. Sure you may hear some occasional walking in the hallway but I am sure I am not light on my feet either. The staff is amazing and very responsive. If you are looking to live near downtown this is the place."
"Gorgeous apartment building located minutes from town. Super convenient for a working professional who desires to live close to town. The building is modern with nice updates, unlike other dated properties in the area. It makes me feel at ease knowing the building is secure and my car is locked safely behind a gated garage and all the doors are key fob. Its also very easy to commute by bicycle as the property is equipped with secure racks and a tune up station. The management company has been a breeze to work with and the application process was painless and quick. I would recommend to any person looking to live close to the city for work or school."
