Reviews of Crane Village Apartments
"I have been living in this poor cranevillage apartment for a year The main thing I tell the office management is so bad and they give office number, email but when you call or write no respond. Sometimes when I go to the office the door is locked but inside someone is talking on the phone or someone loudly knocking knocking hard no answer from inside I don't recommend to live here it's worth"
"The worst apartments in Pittsburgh. Management is unprofessional, can’t keep rules on contract, do whatever for themselves profit, neighbors can’t be quite, you can listen every their step, the worst apartment i have ever seen. Avoid this apartments. They are getting worse and worse everyday. AVOID,AVOID, AVOID."
"Outside of being shown the wrong apartment initially, things weren’t that bad at first. Over time, Crane Village became unbearable. Pros: 1) Inexpensive rent with many utilities included Cons: 1) Rat and cockroach problems every summer 2) Cars will be broken into (happened to me twice and other neighbors causing my battery to die twice) 3) Walls are paper thin (I can’t fully express how much you’ll hear from the surrounding apartments) 4) Washing machines and dryers break monthly 5) If you live near the pool or dead end, prepare to listen to semi-trucks running at all hours 6) Rent increases every year no questions asked, despite reductions in services 7) Pool is closed often due to “lack of life guards” 8) Dog park gates are both broken and have been for years 9) Management will not help or return calls / emails unless you irritatingly reach out numerous times 10) Most recycling bins were removed save one, which is always overflowing 11) Many residents have multiple people living in their apartments who are not on their leases (when you contact the office they don’t know who they are), leaving no parking spots left 12) Buildings near the top of the hill have the power go out each time it rains, sometimes staying out for a day or two at a time 13) No security or even cameras to catch the many acts of wrong doings by the suspect residents the office allows (its all about money) If you aren’t looking for a quality-of-life place to live and just want to save money, Crane Village is perfect for you. Otherwise, avoid. Fair warning."
"I would NOT recommend living at Crane Village. I was a resident there from 2016 to 2020. This is a lengthy review but I hope this will help someone when deciding where they want to live. I would think twice before signing a lease here. Not only did I have many, many, issues but Crane Village falls within that 3% Allegheny Tax. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. The management of Crane changed in year two when I was there and I had hoped it would get better, but when I left the only nice and helpful one was Whitney, she treated me as though I mattered and heard my concerns. Thank you Whitney! I informed the property manager that a staff member was rude to me and she laughed in my face! No costumer service at all. They have no idea what is going on and when I tried to be proactive to get an issue fixed with my apartment one particular staff member who always answers the phones was so lackadaisical and promised me to follow up and never did so I had to take time out of my work day to call and follow up with him 3+ times. They finally did come to fix my issue but the “key” wasn’t working. I was accused of changing my locks, so that lead me to believe that all the notices I received about preventative spraying for pests, along with furnace filer changes never happened because the property did not have a working key to my apartment. I never changed my locks it’s been the same one I moved in with. Apparently at Crane their maintenance crew does not know how to work locks as someone came the next day and their key work! To live here you are paying almost $1,000 a month they treat you like you do not matter and your concerns are not valid. They failed to uphold their end of the lease yet they expect you do your part. My lease was up January 31, 2020 I waited and waited for my lease renewal which according to my lease should have arrived at my door at the end of October. It never came so after the Christmas holiday I called the leasing office to double check and they still expected me to give them 60 days’ notice even when my lease was up January 31, 2020. I have never in my 10+ years of renting have heard that once your lease is up you still have to give 60 days. FUTURE NOTE if you are dumb enough to live here you MUST give 60 days’ notice of when you intend to move out AFTER your lease is up! When I asked the property manager about my lease agreement she said it was put on my door but she’s “sorry” I never received it. If it was placed on my door I would have received it. They failed to put it on my door but my neighbor miraculously received hers. Another important rather gross aspect of this place is I had RATS in my walls...Not mice BUT RATS! I know this because the trap I set myself went off and we caught a rat. I returned home after New Year’s Eve and found holes in a bag of food so I decided to be proactive until the office opened after the holiday and I went out and bought traps after I called the maintenance hotline. This was a Wednesday but the exterminator is only on site on Friday’s. I guess a rat is not an emergency in their eyes so I waited days for him to come. Friday came and the exterminator entered my apartment walked around looked under my sink and left. I know this because I had a camera in my apartment and watched him. He was there for 2 minutes. That Friday night I was watching TV and the trap went off. I jumped up expecting to see the mouse dead but it was a rat and he had his arm caught in the trap. By the time I got a broom to kill it the rodent escaped the trap and back into the wall it went. The rats were coming up through the walls and into my kitchen under the sink. I called our maintenance hotline again and the exterminator never came back and the only way I could stop the rat from coming back into my apartment was to put a giant brick I found out by the dumpster up against the plywood that was blocking the hole under my sink.I also had cockroaches in my apartment. Found them twice! I have more to say but I'm out of space! JUST DON'T LIVE HERE!"
