"Went in today for the first time to price and place an order for materials for a local renovation and outbuilding. I discussed final choices with the client, then walked up to the front desk. An older salesman couldn't be bothered - for substantially longer than was polite - to look up from his cell phone screen, or to respond to my "good morning" greeting, and then answered in a way that made it clear that my presence was an annoyance to him. I turned and walked out; he said nothing. After 40+ years in construction, it always my preference to buy local and avoid the big box stores, but not if it means being paying more to be treated shabbily."

"This is what lumber is supposed to be. People that knows their contractor's and also speak home owner. Their prices are not high, they are fair. You are in and out before you can find two straight 2x4s in the box store.If they don't have it, they will get and will have it when they promised. The people in the box store think a board foot is a lazy toe. G-d bless them for the next 5 generations. Everyone complains about low wages but you were first to want the box stores more jobs yeah at slave wages.
